Thought we had a smiley of beating a dead horse, but couldn't find it. I think the problem is in semantics. Not worth carrying on.

Very interesting discussion today. Thanks to all contributors. I like Linda's analogy. And, while some may be surprised, I happen to agree with talon's opinion that hard, raunchy rock is not Adam's vocal strong point. IMHO. IMHO.... Opinions are funny things, you know? Once formed, they are very difficult to alter, from outside or from inside. (Read about "cognitive dissonance" for more info.) We are so certain of some of our opinions, they appear in our minds to be facts. We tend to amass a tome of "irrefutable" evidence to defend our opinions and dispute the "irrefutable" evidence of those who disagree with us. We are also pre-programmed by our previous experiences, our upbringing, our culture and the people we surround ourselves with to hold some of our opinions as self-evident truths. And self-fulfilling choices and decisions. One has to look no further than the most recent Presidential election to see copious evidence about how strongly we defend and act upon our opinions and interpret/justify/explain events from our own opinions and perspectives. Of course, Adamtopia is slanted toward the belief that Adam is an amazing, talented, wonderful, gorgeous, sexy, extraordinary singer, performer, and person. Still, we find ourselves disagreeing about hairstyles, fashion, tattoos, boyfriends, social activities, career moves, healthy/unhealthy habits, song choice, voice style, ... the list goes on and on. I hope that we always keep in mind that many posts concern personal opinions and not immutable facts.... even regarding aqua board shorts. If I disagree with an opinion I have every right to dispute it and offer "evidence" to the contrary, as long as I do it respectfully. But in so doing, I need to accept that, in a vast majority of cases, I will not sway the other person to my way of thinking or viewing Adam, vocalists, or life in general. AS is said, "In life, it is important to know when to stop arguing with people and just let them be wrong."

Thought we had a smiley of beating a dead horse, but couldn't find it. I think the problem is in semantics. Not worth carrying on. I think this was edited, yes? Before it said something regarding the word "tackle". It was not meant to signify that Adam "couldn't". It was meant as a simile for doing so. I didn't see the band doing the song. Tackling the song. Taking on the challenge of learning a near 40 year old song and performing it live for the first time. Could they? Absolutely. Would they want to? I'm doubtful That's it. "In no way is that a rant or a suggestion that BRorA do anything different. I also don't think you have to agree with me." Not sure why you are making my comment about the rants about you. But my point was I avoid the Queen forum cesspool for a reason. The envy, rants and hatred about Adam (and something they have no control over) was just ridiculous and a waste of time, imo. But I look forward to Brian, Roger and Adam putting on a great and enjoyable show with their choices as we all do. Rock on guys I apologize. You had been responding to me so it implied to me that you were thought what I had said was akin to the ranting and raving and hatred. If that *isn't* what was meant, then that's fine. I understand Adam fans not going to Queen forums...Even I came here for a more positive look on the collaboration. But I would also say that I think at least *PART* (not all) of the problem, ranting, raving, etc. is overblown because of some of the behavior of some of the Adam fans there. I've seen trolls on both sides of the argument believe me NOW BACK to Linda's wonderful analogy. Chris Cornell is a GREAT example. In fact one of the closest examples I could come to to compare Adam to for me. Chris would be exactly like Adam just flipped around. I think if Chris had ever fronted Queen, his SCC, Ogre Battle, Tie Your Mother Down, etc. would be SPOT on genuine and would work much better than Adam's. BUT on the other hand, on at least 50% of the catalogue, he would sound more out of place than Adam does on rock tracks. On the poppy/campy stuff Chris would sound very out of place. Chris *COULD* probably handle the ballads pretty well...but on an overall package Adam is a better fit. I was a fan of Chris like I am of Adam if I'm honest. A man who has (had now :( ) great pipes. I like some of the music he makes but I'm not a big collector of it. I like some of Chris' singles with Temple of the Dog, Soundgarden, Audioslave, and his solo stuff....but I don't have a lot of albums as it's not my brand of rock really. So it really is a good comparison Well except Chris never worked with Queen. BUT! Brian did do a track with Soundgarden once - he thew some guitar on a Soundgarden track for a charity album - the song was New Damage....and it's got some nice Brian work )

Talon, I am glad you liked my analogy. Now I am not sure that Chris was the analogy part, but hey anytime there is some agreement and a festive mood, I am a happy camper. Also dancey and cassie, I am glad you liked it as well. Edited much later: after some more thought, maybe I get the Chris part you were talking about now

Like all 3 vocalists - would love to see QAL and wouldn't have minded seeing QCC :D But I would think different things about both - neither super negative!
