Those pictures from Gray Joey book are not very appealing......... You know, enchanted, I don't think the photos from hardyzine are meant to be appealing in the mass market sense. Grayjoey is telling queer stories, the stories of people who do not fit the into neat gender, sexuality, or even size categories. The people who were photographed and interviewed want us to look at them and hear them and perhaps stretch of our sense of what is "normal". They are brave and maybe because they have been told over and over that they don't fit, they are also just a little defiant. I find the photos tasteful and thoughtful - a transwoman who perhaps chose not to undergo the final surgery, a slight delicate man who is unsure of his place in the world, and a fat black man who looks like he dreams of being a ballerina. I haven't read the interviews so I may be totally off, but that is what the photo is saying to me. I will read their stories and contemplate their reality and see if it might broaden my world.

Buying makes the most sense. Streaming, particularly on Spotify is good. But there is not enough activity on this track to make a difference and it is not being promoted. I recommend relaxing until A4 promo starts. But, if you are interested in helping Adam and you don't want to wait for A4 single #1, buying and streaming things he has a songwriting credit on will help him the most. And "Ghost Town" streams [particularly Spotify and YouTube] will be most noticeable. In any case, do whatever makes you happy but don't run up the count on an unofficial YouTube video. If it is "noticed," it will be taken down by YouTube. As I said yesterday I think the Adam Lambert Hungary video is allowed to be online. An other fan upload was taken down immediately after it was uploaded. YouTube has very good trackers in place that notice any content which isn't allowed to be uploaded to be taken down. When I uploaded a video with content from a TV program here in the Netherlands I wasn't even finished processing the video or it was already blocked in the Netherlands. Still I agree with Q3 that it doesn't really make much sense to up the numbers on that video other than an occasional listen just because you want to. I do think that giving Think some streams will give his label or anyone some info about what to expect with new music. In that sense I'm a bit disappointed about the numbers for Think. They are pretty low and for a worldwide superstar I would have expected some higher numbers when we finally get a new song from him after the last one was with the RHPS or Broken which is almost 10 months ago already. I do hope that for Era 4 we all can go back into stream/buy mode again and are ready to give him that little bit extra that he deserves. ETA: In the meantime when you do have Spotify and want to give Adam's songs some stream hits (not only Think) you are welcome to use my playlist which has GT, ALN, WTTS, EITN, Broken, CGH, Think and both of Isaiah's songs. Or use any of Adam's playlists. I have links to some of those playlists in my weekly update post: docs.com/skaschep/3966/weekly-update-adam-lambert-4-june-2017I think whoever publishes the AdamLambert Hungary YouTubes and manages that account is very good at keep unauthorized videos up and available almost worldwide. I have not investigated what she is doing but I strongly doubt they have any authorization to publish this song. [Maybe once I get done packing and packing and.... I will check it out.}

One purchase/download does equal more streams. You are not wrong. I can't remember what the formula is though. I think it's worth around 100 streams but it could be worth just 8 or over 1000. Somewhere we have the estimated formula. It's not an estimated formula, it is exact. (Except for You Tube which refuses to reveal their formula!) 1500 Streams = one album sale 100 Streams = one single sale 10 tracks DLed = one album sale Just to clarify -- this is the formula for RIAA (US Certification). Billboard 200 (albums) uses a similar formula. The RIAA recognizes the following Album Award tiers:Gold – 500,000 Units Platinum – 1,000,000 Units Multi-Platinum – 2,000,000 Units (increments of 1,000,000 thereafter) Diamond – 10,000,000 Units (increments of 1,000,000 thereafter) Units are defined as follows Each permanent digital album or physical album sale count as 1 Unit for certification purposes. 10 permanent track downloads from the album count as 1 Unit for certification purposes. 1,500 on-demand audio and/or video streams from the album count as 1 Unit for certification purposes. RIAA counts 1500 OFFICIAL VIDEO PLAYS on YouTube, VEVO, etc. as 1 Unit for certification purposes. YouTube has a secret algorithm to eliminate bot and human spam plays. RIAA Single certification Gold – 500,000 Units Platinum – 1,000,000 Units Multi-Platinum – 2,000,000 Units (increments of 1,000,000 thereafter) Diamond – 10,000,000 Units (increments of 1,000,000 thereafter) Units are defined as follows: Each permanent digital download counts as 1 Unit for certification purposes. 150 on-demand audio and/or video streams will count as 1 Unit for certification purposes. The Billboard Hot 100 singles chart is calculated in a very different manner - they use sales + measured radio airplay + streaming.
The formulas vary by country and certification or chart organization but as streaming is becoming dominant, things are becoming standardized. In January 2017, the Official Chart Company (UK) for example, changed from 100 stream - a single purchase to 150 streams equaled 1 single purchase.
What counts also varies -- even within country.

LindaG23 I love you! I find myself getting angry over posts sometimes, and mostly what I do is sigh and go away again for a bit. Real life makes that all too easy. Or I post a reply that is too sharp sometimes, in the emotion of the moment. And then you, instead of antagonizing or staying silent, so often come back with a thoughtful balanced answer. I learn every day. Thank you.
