What's with everybody from LA being in Boston? lol. Sutan has been in Provincetown all summer for a gig. I was wondering if they would be able to meet up while Adam was on the East coast. Fun times are being had I expect! Guess that explains the boat ride, they ferried out to Provincetown.

I am constantly amazed at how many grammatical, typo and thought mistakes are in not only these reviews, but even in articles from legitimate, first tier media outlets. Does no one use a proof reader these days? But one of the reviews posted today was so bad I couldn't even make it thru. Not an educator here, but I honestly think we are seeing the effects of the computer driven world. No 'need' to learn the differences between words, cursive writing no longer taught, spelling is not taught past the very basics, grammar gone, and so on and so on. We are the dinosaurs. A lot of articles now get released online with little to no review -- no editor, no proofreader. The print editions tend to be cleaner but still not great. I think it is more related to the lack of time and staff vs. a reflection of the education system. I teach at a state university and I find about half my students are very capable writers and very few submit papers with basic spelling or grammar errors because of computer spelling and grammar checking. I think the percentage of students submitting quality papers might have declined a bit over the past several years but is not noticeably different. I think fast, "temporary" communication -- texting, email and social media -- is a factor in the decline in communications quality. Personal computers have been around for over 30 years but I don't think writing (and spelling) did not really seem to deteriorate until the past 10ish years. For me, someone who really can't spell very well, computers improve my spelling measurably. I have learned to spell many words based on the corrections -- something I failed to learn in school decades ago. In any case, I hope someday we will have phonetic spelling in English -- like Italian. It would make it much easier if through was spelled thru. Finally, writing is being emphasized in many schools now -- and writing tests are part of many job and college applications. Cursive, spelling and grammar are being put back and emphasized in K-8 curriculum across the U.S. For example, after not being taught in most U.S. elementary schools for the past decade, cursive is back. 14 states now mandate cursive writing instruction. Many other school districts (including NYC Schools) also mandate it. Writing exams are also returning to high schools. I think the pendulum is swinging back a bit.

Adam on Dana's SC Obviously, Adam has the tongue rolling gene and the other guy does not. (The ability to roll one's tongue is an inherited trait. Although it can be influenced by environment.)
