Update from southeast Texas. Now my area is under water and people are having to be rescued. My Mom and my Stepmom both have water in their houses. My Stepmother was rescued by a Parks and Wildlife airboat this morning. My Mom and Stepdad are sitting in water at their house waiting to be rescued. I'm dry where I'm at, but can't get to them due to the high water. The freeways look like oceans, I have never seen anything like this before. My area has gotten 45 inches of rain so far and it is still raining! I wish there was something we could do for you Pam. Call me if you think of anything. We are so far from each other. I know there is no way for you to get to Florida but we would love to have you if you need shelter. I feel so bad and helpless for everyone there. Keep us all posted and good luck to you and your family. Lulu1265, my heart goes out to you!!! Please let us know if there is anything that we can do for you and your family, either now during the emergency or later when trying to recovery! Everyone in the flooded areas, please keep safe!!! And remember that fast flowing water is MUCH more dangerous than it looks!!! A foot of fast flowing water can wash a car away!

Thanks for all the thoughts, prayers and good wishes from everyone! Just found out my Mom and stepdad, Rodney, got evacuated to a church shelter in our area. Took 2 different boats, a trailer in waist deep water and a big truck, but they made it. My stepdad had a stroke 2 years ago this Friday. He has movement fine, but his cognition and memory have never recovered. He had his 85th birthday last week. He was very disoriented due to all the commotion and the church they were evacuated to had no sleeping facilities, they were just making do with what they had. Mom wanted to get to her stepmother's house, which was dry, but there was too much water to get there. Finally just a little while ago someone with a large truck that sits up high were able to take them over to my grandmother's, she is in her 90s! Mom is the youngest at 77 LOL!! Anyway, my grandmother's house is dry and they are all safe there, really takes a load off my mind. It is really hard when you are nearby, but still can't get to them due to water. I have heard helicopters flying over my house all day rescuing people from the water. Just keep Texas in your prayers, as the road to recovery will be a long one.
