Hello everyone! Sorry if I post in the wrong thread
Now that I had a little time to gather my wits here is part 1 of my review. Pfffeewwww. It turned out to be a long one. Before I get to the concerts (my sister vilynka87 and I have been to Vienna and Bologna) I’m gonna tell you my Adam story. I’m gonna write a little about ourselves so that one can see why my sister and I love Adam so much.

In the spring of 2009 my sister was studying in Greece. She saw Adam on tv in a greek news report they did about American Idol finale. They showed his performances with Kiss and Queen. The sound was turned off so she didn’t even get to hear him sing. She was wow-ed just by Adam’s whole glam-rocker look, the “angel-wings”, the way he moved and held himself on stage. As soon as she got the chance she looked him up on utube , “fell down the rabbit whole” and became a glambert. We knew about Idol since season 1 because of Kelly. She set the bar so high and we watched and laughed at many karaoke level performances along the years. We disagreed when judges prized singers who performed songs they should have never touched or at least didn’t bother to change the arrangement so that it would match their vocal ability. Adam’s Idol performances made the news around the world it seemed.
I laughed at her comments, the many superlatives my sister wrote on Skype before she send me THAT utube link. I knew that for her to be so awestruck, this guy had to be incredible or maybe she just fell in love LOL.
So the first time I’ve seen Adam was his performance of “WATC” with Kris and Queen. Oh and she forgot to write me who was Adam out of them two. So when I started to watch I listened to Kris sing the first part and I liked him. He didn't mess up as many others did before him.Our dad’s favorite Queen songs are “WATC”,”The show must go on”,”WWTLF”,”Bo Rap” and Freddie’s “Barcelona” so I know the songs by heart and have heard many different covers along the years, none of which I really like beside George Michael’s STL. No one came close to the way Freddie sang it. It was either good, like Kris sang it, or too operatic or over-the-top for my taste. I can’t bear to watch the bad ones so I turn of the sound if smb does a karaoke-like version.
When Adam began to sing I forgot where I was and who I was. I was paralyzed. I forgot to breathe. Adam sounded completely different from everyone I’ve ever heard sing. It was like somebody turned on the “HD/sound-surround/3-d sound”, pressed some magical button somewhere and his voice vibrated through my whole being. HOW does he sing like THAT????!!!! was my first thought. And to sing WATC with QUEEN out of all songs. If I was feeling this way just by watching a not-so-good quality utube video, I could not imagine how those lucky people in the audience felt like. How I wish to have seen the faces of Brian May and Roger Taylor during their first ever rehearsal with Adam on idol. Wonder how many Adam-fans had exactly the same expressions of disbelief on our faces the first time we heard him sing LOL
The second link my sister send me was Adam singing “What’s up” in Upright cabaret. I remember I wrote her that I’ve never heard a male singer sing so high in full voice live. I realized how skilled he was and what incredible vocal abilities he has. How long and hard he worked to be able to sing like that. It is similar to when one watches an Olympic champion perform while playing that sport as an amateur.
The third video I watched was “I can’t make you love me” from the same cabaret. This is when I became a glambert. I can count on one hand the singers who made me cry and Adam made me cry during this song. So many years later and I still shed a tear when I rewatch that old low-q vid. I was angry at those people just sitting there eating, talking etc. Don’t know how they could. Had I been there I would have jumped out of my seat, run to Adam and given him a hug at the end of that song all the while crying like a baby. That is how I knew he is someone special cause never before had a singer provoked such a reaction from me. For the first time in my life I was starstruck. I understood all the fans who felt like that about Freddie or Elvis or Paul or John. Adam put so much emotion in one song.
And just from the way he sang in that cabaret I knew he had to be a really good person. One just can’t fake those emotions. I have seen artists pretend like they are the nicest people in public yet treat others like crap backstage. I was so happy when I was proven right by reading and watching all his interviews I could find.
I was surprised at how honest, how brave, how smart, how funny and humble he really is. I thought he might have had to hide his real thoughts and feelings from the public, especially in interviews because the industry demands it and America is so much about image many times. At least it seems so to me from outside. I’ve seen people do it in my country too. Backstage is like a different world from what performers present to the world while on stage. I’m glad Adam didn’t compromise his integrity and didn’t pretend to be who he isn’t for the sake of his career. Too many lose themselves.
After the cabaret videos I watched all the Idol and pre-Idol vids I could find.I was glad I didn't know about him a few months before that while he was on Idol cause I would have been so nervous waiting for the results every week
