Constantine and Mark Ballas are not well known enough to be in this production. If they are not than neither is Adam. Their fan base size and makeup may be different but their name recognition is likely quite similar. I am over in the Silicon Valley and whenever I mentioned Adam Lambert to co-workers, they would say "the guy from American Idol?" They just don't follow him at all but most seemed to know who he was. Just a feeling but I just don't think they would know who Constantine was. It seems Adam made a lot more TV appearances than Constantine and during season 8, he was water cooler talk and on a magazine cover. They might know who Mark Ballas was if they were fans of DWTS but I don't know of any other than a couple of my family members.

Adam is more mainstream. And has recongition through his run with Queen. Constantine and Mark feel more indy and alternative too me. Let me put it this way, who is more likely to tune in to a televised Broadwayish musical, a musical lover, a dancing with the stars type television viewer, or a Queen fan? I’m not saying Adam doesn’t have the roll or at very least he should be 100% in contention, just saying that two and many others also have pluses to bring to the table. But they want this to be a rock concert not a Broadway musical. The nod goes to Adam.

Don't know who they will pick for Judas or why but there is no way Adam is not a much bigger name than Mark or Constantine. Even if you only use Idol an a benchmark, Adam is always listed as one of the most successful Idols along with Carrie, Kelly, Jhud and Daughtry. Constantine is never mentioned. Adam had more buzz on Idol that almost anyone and certainly more than Constantine. When they list articles about the highest earning Idols, Adam is always on the list and Constantine is never there. Adam has gold/platinum albums/singles in the US and internationally and those two have neither. Grammy nom. Adam is the frontman for Queen playing in arenas worldwide. The press has not missed that point. Not knocking what the others have accomplished. Mark known for DWTS. Constantine a Tony nom and a lot of regional theater experience. Not saying they won't get the part. But putting them on the same level as Adam as far as name recognition is just not so.

Does anyone know if any other names were being thrown out by fans (or artists like Mark Ballas) for the parts of Jesus or Mary before they made an announcement? Or is Judas the only casting role the guy is being hit with? There was a lot of fan noise about Mary before that was announced. *** I am not counting on anything except that we will get new music from Adam this year and the already announced QAL dates. It seems likely that Adam's people pitched him for the Judas role. And we know he wants the part since he said so in the past. What we do not know is if he has been or will be offered the part, and if that offer was/is made, if the offer works for Adam. If he does not have the part, I think his hints are quite odd. Regarding QAL, there are many rumors swirling around. To me the most likely one is the later summer 2018 concerts in London and two other cities. A few really big events or a few festival shows. But I have not seen or heard anything from a reliable source. Mostly fan speculation and a few hints from Brian. I take everything Brian says with a huge mountain of salt. You know, like his setlist promises. Of all the possibilities, the thing I want most is a new Adam Lambert album. And my dream, is QAL performing at The Grammys -- but so far, there is no sign of that happening.

Adam is by far the most well known of the three. They said they are casting recording artists -- and so far that is what they have done. Adam has a new album in the works -- which will be his fourth major label album, a #1 album plus a solid sales history. He does well on streaming media. He also is the current frontman for Queen. And he should have won Idol. Constantine has released two solo albums -- in 2005 and 2007 -- both with indie labels. Neither had noticeable sales. His album peak was #75 in the US. He was most famous during his Idol run where he came in at #6. He has played Judas in JCS www.playbill.com/article/casting-complete-for-muny-jesus-christ-superstarJudas is the big role in JCS. I am not sure Adam is a big enough star to get this part in a network TV production -- but I can't think of anyone better for the role. One thing I am sure of, it will not be Constantine.

Chris Daughtry played Judas in the last network tv production they did. It had a different spin and I don't think the Jesus was a big star. Didn't really enjoy the way they did it that much but Daughtry did a good job. He wasn't the main focus of that production tho.

To me this was the best opening Adam has ever done. I was taken away on an ethereal flight and then brought back to earth with Ghost Town thumping through me! Adam looked gorgeous in all white and those lights on his shirt, well, what a concept! cheriemelissa I totally agree-this was the BEST opening of any of Adam's concerts that I've ever seen. The foggy, rainy night, driving through the desert-and then to walk into the casino to see such a long line waiting to get into the theatre, noticing Eber walking casually by, assessing the ecstatic crowd waiting in anticipation...it was all so magical. Of course every waiting moment when we were inside, was like an eternity. And then...there was a stillness, no fanfare or big introduction, and we hardly knew he was even on the stage. Then my husband said,"That's him---all in white, and he has a white hat! " I strained to see ,and then realized Adam was beginning to sing a slow, haunting version of OOL , He looked beautiful and I too, was captivated by seeing him perform GT---when he opened up his jacket to show his shirt all lit up----a memory forever. And to think I almost didn't even go that night, and it was my dear friend Sophie, from the other side of the world who kept telling me to find a way to make it happen---The only thing that would have made the night better, would be if she could have been there too! Oh-and Wicked Game -I don't even have words... I'm a very luck woman to have this night to treasure always. SophieB

lorraine . As Adam would say..... you made it happen. That's a night I truly envy you and the others there. He was superlatively gorgeous in both outfits - and really seemed totally into it.
