Part of the problem is also probably outgrowing pop. She and Gaga are now in their thirties. The tweens and teens are now into Ariana, Camilla, Demi, Mendes, Selena and a lot of the younger singers. Yes, some in top 40 are over thirty but the kids are going gaga over the younger ones. But where would someone like Katy go when the reality of the situation sets in? She does not seem to be diverse in her singing talent. Adam was never purely a teen idol to begin with. Yes, he has had teen fans but his demo is older. Maybe that's an advantage in the long run. I hope he adapts well and just moves along as his age evolves with his music. Diversify if possible into other things. Dunno what's gonna happen to Katy. She's had a tremendous run, but the tweens and teens do grow up. It is hard to use album sales as a measure of popularity comparing a 2017 release (Witness) to a 2013 release (Prism) because of the shift to streaming. > A four year break is really long in pop music. Fans move on. > There was no reason to buy Witness -- it just did not have a great song on it. And the singles all were featuring XXXXXX -- feels formulaic to me. BUT her subsequent concert tix sales are great. So I think it is a matter of it wasn't a great album, the music. But she still is really popular. It may be that she puts out another great pop album -- or maybe she moves on to other things.

Why was Brian in the hospital in 1974? @brianmaycom: #OTD @queenwillrock History 17 Jan: RELEASED 1975 Now I'm Here/Lily of the Valley written @drbrianmay in hospital 1974; 1991 Headlong/Under Pressure cassette US; 1997 @drbrianmay @officialrmt #JohnDeacon @eltonofficial premiere Bejart Ballet Paris. MORE bit.ly/2ra5oY4. /photo/1 Brian was hospitalized for hepatitis. In 1974, Queen performed at 6 shows in a row at the Uris Theatre in NYC. [And I was at all 6!!!!!] They opened for Mott the Hoople. After the sixth and final concert, Brian collapsed from pain. It turned out got hepatitis from a tainted needle he received when the band got their required inoculations before going to Australia in February, and he had been in considerable pain throughout this tour. It soon developed into gangrene, and at one point there was a chance that his arm would have to be amputated. The band were forced to abandon the rest of the shows on the tour. Here's an article about it from QueenConcerts.com's archive.
