T he two performers at the SB this year are older than Adam. Aren't there tons of males older than Adam played on pop radio? IIRC I thought Q3 posted a list once. Adam Levine, Eminem, and Pittbull are older than Adam. David Guetta is 50. Yep. Pink and Timberlake are older than Adam. And several others being played on top 40 are older as well. Ryan Teddar, 30 Sec. to Mars, Portugal the Man, some members of Fall Out Boy. They make music that is not really pop or dance but it gets played on top 40 anyway. That may be the direction Adam is headed with alt/Queen influenced. And if he can't be trusted to sing the NA on tv then why do we think they will let him play Judas on tv? That is live and more involved than the NA, which is over and done in a few minutes. So many rules for Adam.

I am pretty sure that the only Idols that have had any international success have been Adam, Kelly, and Daughtry. Possibly, Carrie in OZ. But I don't think her genre has caught on around the world like it is in the US. Even with Kelly and Daughtry, I still think Adam is known in more countries, like the Asian ones and S. America. Many, maybe even most, Idols are working in some way with their music. They are not all radio stars, but some have done Broadway, some are self releasing their music, or are on small labels. Pretty much any artists can tour. They just have to choose the right sized venues for their fanbase. I think Adam's management and label have done a great job of that so far. I do wonder why Daughtry has gone 5 years w/o a new release though. Very odd. Just to clarify Carrie doesn't have a big fan base here in Oz. I think it has grown a bit thanks to her duet with Keith Urban but when she first came out here she couldn't even sell out one show at the Palais Theatre here in Melbourne (the same one Adam performs his solo shows at). Other than Kelly I'd say Adam is the best known Idol here in oz especially after he did XFactor and won with Isiah.

cassie : "I think it is entirely possible that Adam HAS been asked. And declined. He is not into sports at all. He sang the national anthem for a sporting event way back when he was in high school in San Diego. "Been there, done that. Not interested" perhaps?" I too think that maybe he stated to his management that he is not that interested in singing NA somewhere and they are not actively getting gigs for him in sports events. Even if they ask Adam - it might be scheduling conflict and not worth moving around. I think Adam is much more open (from his own interviews) to stuff like singing on tv shows (Glee etc),being a judge/mentor,he is waiting for the right reinvention on the right Broadway production/musical production (hopefully JSC is happening) or new role which he can build like he said in RuPaul interview. A lot of times he said he is not a sports fan. But he did record a cover song for a figure skater early in his career. I guess Adam chooses what he likes, like animation, some commercials etc. Managed to fit in those between QAL/solo schedule. Here is the song Adam recorded for an exhibition number for figure skater Nick LaRoche. I believe Adam either know the skater or the person who was producing the song for the skater. If I remember correctly, this was Adam's very first experience recording a song in a studio! The song is a love song - love between a father (who is on travel) and his 4 year old daughter! youtu.be/s1QiitmOKY4

He also recorded Welcome to the Show to be played for the NHL games and it was also played for the College Basketball tournament. The NA may not be something he is pushing his management to get for him. Could be more important to some than to him. But I doubt that all of these people (male or female) who sing it do it because they are so into sports.

Mainstream Top 40 radio (AKA Pop Radio) PDs don't care how old the artist is, they care how old the audience is -- they want 18-35 year olds. Some markets go older, Youngstown, OH has a pop station that targets people 18-49. Some go younger, LA has a pop station that targets 15-29. I have no idea what Adam is up to but most of the artists on pop radio are either established pop hit makers like Pink or they have a home genre (Country, Alt Rock, R&B, Rhythmic, Dance, etc.) and cross over to Pop with a genre hit. IMVHO Adam's real challenge is he has no genre home because that would make it easier to get radio airplay. >> HAC and AC are audience-based formats not genres. Finally, I honest don't care about radio. I want him to have a massive streaming hit and sales which = royalties and a tour. And in 2018, a big Spotify hit and/or a big YouTube video beats radio.

I don't understand why people say their are certain rules set for Adam. Like he has to jump through hoops no other artist has too. Or he is blacklisted on Radio. None of that is true. Ghost Town was a top 20 Pop Hit on Radio. Adam may have been asked in the past, but he may have declined. Sure their are tons of older artists getting hits on the radio. But It's all about the music.
But in general the Radio PDS target a younger audience.
Adams probably too old. Be smart for him to shift to a more alternate sound.
Adam is kinda homeless on Radio. He has no real genre or format.
That said though I don't think Radio is that important anymore. Adam getting a streaming hit on Spotify or YouTube seems preferable.
And I don't think he won't get JCS. Because of him never doing the National Anthem at the Super Bowl.

And just because it popped up when I was searching for the video of the song Adam sang for the figure skater, here is a compilation video of Olympic figure skater Johnny Weir set to Adam's Fever. It perfectly fits Johnny's very flamboyant, glittery costume stlye. Johnny is to figure skating as Adam is to singing! youtu.be/R2RVJsEW9fM

Big Spotify and YouTube hits move to radio, see Camilla Cabello’s HAVANA. It was soft released to streaming along with another song in very early August as test promos. Havana took off like wildfire, in September it was released to radio. And, as they say, the rest is history.
