Someone recently asked me how it is that Adam keeps sounding better each time we see him live. Great question. Angelina and I talked about that in our recent youtube chats about Adam's voice. I have several answers/theories.
1. Technology: The very best of the very best sound systems, mics, mixing, balancing for the venue managed by folks who know more and more about Adam's voice and how to serve it best. That sound system this go round was breathtaking.
2. Angelina pointed out that male voices reach their peak at about age 35-36. So some of the enhancement is the natural maturing of his instrument. 3. Angelina also pointed out that Adam has found his place with Queen these days. The music is within him now. It takes time to find that sweet spot where the singer is totally comfortable with and in the music. Where he knows how to approach every phrase, every note, vocally. Where it just flows out without thinking of technique and production.
4. This Adam quote from the recent article is also relevant: One thing I have learned over the past few years is that it’s not as much about “look what I can do with my voice” as it is, “listen to these lyrics, feel this vibe. I’ve realized I have the strongest audience connection when I let the songs lead the way and we bask in the nostalgia together." Adam does not go for as many stratospheric high, glory notes as he once did. He knows they are impressive as hell, and few if any pop/rock singers today can hit them like he can. But singing those notes just because he can, just to get a collective gasp from the audience, is no longer on the agenda. He is committed to invoking the feeling from the audience and the band, and it shows in how he sings.
IMHO

I had overlooked the fact that this tweet (linking to the article we've seen) says a 26 date run in Vegas. That's longer than I would have thought...about 2 months. Guess we shall see. I think the 26 dates was first in the article but was edited out later. Not sure if that will be the right number. We'll see when they announce it. The original article said: “ Contignuing its aggressive campaign to bring in top rockers this year, the 5,200-seat theater at Monte Carlo is reportedly ready to stage Queen with Adam Lambert. The Queen-Park Theater engagement is reportedly a partnership between MGM Resorts International and concert promoter Live Nation . Queen and Lambert are certainly available for such a run — the band has no dates on the schedule after a July 4 booking at O2 Arena in London, which tops off its European tour.”
The bolded wording tells me there was nothing finalized, although there is an effort to bring them into LV. So, I see this as nothing more than pure speculation.... honestly the the whole thing makes very little sense imo, as far as I remember they didn’t sell out their last date there...

Guess I better try to save some $$$ for a trip to Las Vegas (after the dental implants, water heater replacement and new wheelchair for my daughter). I'll probably really need to hear Adam's glorious voice by that time.

I know everyone will read the whole article, but I thought I would bring the last paragraph over as it is not about QAL and fits the discussions of the past week: What do you have coming up next? I have been working on new solo music over the past year. I am not a patient person by nature, but have found that this project has greatly benefited from me taking my time to explore the sounds and themes that feel most authentic to me. I tend to get really obsessive over a song right after it’s been written and recorded and when I allow some time to pass, I can revisit it more objectively and feel if it fits the bigger picture of the album. It’s still coming into focus, but the broad strokes feel really powerful and I’m looking forward to releasing music later this year.Really love this interview! Adam is so articulate. I know that's been said a million times, but really, he sounds like a well-educated, thoughtful, self-aware, introspective, intelligent person. That's why I fell in love with him. And oh yeah, he's also very very hot.

Couldn't they do that in about a month and half? Does not seem like it will be for too long. And if the money is good and timing right it should work. They should have no problem filling a 5k seat venue for a few months. Speculation at this point but hope it is true. "Queen and Lambert sold out T-Mobile Arena on June 27. It was the most entertaining arena show I saw in all of 2017, and immediately started poking around for news about the band’s interest in an extended engagement on the Strip. Be confident Queen will open sometime in August, and no later than mid-September."
