The last professional production of JCS that I saw was just last year. It was incredible. It was an all black cast. So the concept of a black Jesus, etc. is not new. Each role was played by a singer whose voice was up to the task. I have to say that I do like John Legend. I've seen and heard him on TV and in movies. But he's not a power-house type singer. Actually, the role that is the most fun to me is King Herod. I think Alice Cooper will really own that juicy part. It's just one song, but it's a doozy! I predict the show will get good ratings and probably good reviews. We'll see! Why do I think it is less divisive to have a black Jesus than an all black cast for America's founding fathers? Sure Hamilton's a success but they wouldn't have cast a black Jesus without it? That all rings backward to me. I think the goal of using non-white actors in these shows that have traditionally been all white is to simply show that the race of the characters should not matter. The themes and ideas behind the story should be what counts. Certainly the real Jesus and his contemporaries, living in the Middle East, had a deeper skin tone than many of the stereotypical "white" versions we see of what they may have looked like. It's getting far more common to see actors of color, male and female, to be cast in roles that have long been filled by light-skinned people. It's a sign of the times. It's about inclusion and open-mindedness and a more "color-blind" mentality. It's about the story applying to everyone, regardless of color.

I get the all inclusion thing but it's 2018 and not 1980 when "All in the family" was on. But what I'm mostly referring to is in the article they talk about Hamilton opening up the possibility of putting blacks in nontraditional roles and that opened them up to putting Legend in as Jesus, even thought they expect to get some trolls commenting about it (which they did). But I'm not understanding why Hamilton had to be first before they would try it for JCS. I guess I just don't find it shocking or even avant garde. If they wanted that they would do an almost all black cast with a white Judas, putting the white guy in the betrayer position even though JCS is about finding the good in Judas. In the '79 movie it was major to have a black man in the role of Judas but it was also very telltale in white = good and black = bad in the white hat vs black hat western way. But that brings me back to American bigotry. I don't know if conservatives are more wedded to a white Jesus or white founding fathers. What if Jesus was gay? Would that explode more heads? I don't know, I just hear that JCS was about pushing boundaries. Maybe a black Jesus during the Obama years wouldn't have been but during the HeWhoCannot amed era it is? I'm going to try and watch but I think I'll be doing a a lot of comparing to what could have been because of course I'll put Adam in every role. Lots of articles coming out. Here's one that has this week's rehearsal for Whats the Buzz. www.billboard.com/articles/news/television/8265775/john-legend-facebook-jesus-christ-superstar-watchDancers look good.

Jablea, it isn't ground breaking to have a black Jesus. Been done many times. All these articles are "spin." You know, John is going for the EGOT! It's all about John! I think Brandon is going to be the show stealer in this production. In most of the photos, my eye goes right to Brandon. I mean, I know John is playing Jesus and "robe" type attire is the norm, but he literally looks like he threw on his robe over his jeans. NO ONE cares who the designer of his jeans is!! Brandon stands out, to me, every time!

Ok so discussion topics to keep our interest. Why didn't Adam do any songs on his first album with Red.....?. the guy who always had artists say his name in their songs. Thinking Gaga and Katie may have done songs with him. I think we saw a vid where he said he was signing up for 6 songs with Adam, but then we didn't ever hear anything else. You're going WAAAAY back here lol. They did work together on the first album, RedOne I believe was his name. I remember an awkward pic of them in the studio. They didn't click, I remember Adam being asked about it. I don't remember much else, but the song or songs (if they even came up with any) must not have been very good because we never heard them or about them.

I'm expecting camera work to show something of him during that song too I'm thinking. Biggest problem is that his costume really blends in with all the dancers.

So where in the Playmobil movie process are they with a January release date? No idea. But the Queen-movie is in post-production with a (new) release-day in November, if that helps.

Haven't heard much about him since either. I find it interesting to find the outliers whom Adam doesn't get along with, there aren't very many.
