Just finished watching JCSS. I thought it was fantastic! YES! When you real professional stage singers actors, you can really have an excellent show. John Legend is NOT a theater guy and his voice proves that, BUT, I though he did very well. He just might get an Emmy after all. And Brandon was absolutely stupendous! Great voice and a wonderful conception of the part. Kudos to him! I think Adam could have done the part well, too. Vocally, NOT DOUBT IN MY MIND. Brandon no doubt has more acting experience, but I think Adam could have pulled this off. Let's hope he gets a chance to do some acting!
I was looking forward to Alice Cooper as King Herod and I thought he was GREAT! I have always liked him and his sense of humor. He was perfect as the sneering, sarcastic Herod.
I admit I had my doubts about the show. I had to talk myself into watching it. But I'm glad I did. And I'm SURE Adam was watching, too!

Can you imagine Adam's voice on that last song from Judas? I thought the exact same thing. Brandon was really good, but Adam would have taken that song to new heights, seamlessly, effortlessly. Beautifully.

I played Alice Cooper's part for my husband, as I thought he was priceless in the role. My husband said, he had a story about him. Alice Cooper was to sing at the pro football stadium years ago... probably the 80's. He met him, but said Alice would never remember him as he was so stoned. The concert was delayed two hours as the crew lost the snake! His crew eventually found the snake and the concert started...but some pretty mad concert goers.

Notes before I read what everyone else is saying - Not live here, one hour later.
Brandon did great, he's got some dance moves, did scream just slightly like Danny Gokey at the end, but great acting and had some really good scenes and loved how they wove him into the all the parts even up in the balcony. Big WTF that he's not pictured on the CD, shame on NBC. Outfits were great.
Sara has a great voice, I didn't know. Really not much of a part however but one of the main songs, I don't know how to love him, that everyone knows.
John did not have the voice for this, I don't see Emmy for him. Why was he the only one with a dressing room? Along with the storyline I didn't see that as making him a sympathetic character.
Alice Cooper, one song, did great. Why is he considered a main character? Liked the judge with corn rows. At first I didn't think he was going to have a voice and then it came in. Who was the guy in Gold, Pontus Piliate or something (sorry I don't know my biblical stories) did good but lost his voice at the end.
Loved the dancers, Peter was good, who was the blond with the mohawk? Set design worked, music was good but overpowering on some spots. Liked the chorus coming from behind the stands at certain times. I didn't know how it would be more than an hour just reading the songs (never saw the movie) but it worked out although commercials were loooooong. Liked it when they showed the behind the scenes.
Would Adam have been good? Of course but I was rooting for Brandon after how much it seems he's been slighted, and he came through.

Loved @jcs, but missed Adam. Agree about John Legend. While I thought he used his vocal abilities with falsetto to get this rather difficult job done successfully, kinda, I also thought his acting was off whenever interaction and warmth was needed. But there were tons of brilliant camera shots, especially obviously towards the end, that will allow for spectacular images to remain vividly in our mind, and that will make us forget that detail.
I loved Judas acting wise, but have to say, I missed Adam's vocals. A Lot. But I really liked what he did with the part, Sara was wonderful, so were imo especially Pontius Pilate, Herod, Caiaphas, Annas. Really great production.
My kids watched this rock musical the first time and you could see their little minds taking it all in.
MI hope that this was quite a huge ratings success for NBC. It's certainly trending on twitter. Since a while now.

As for winning an Emmy, John Legend may not merit one as an individual, but the whole show may be nominated and get an Emmy. We'll see. I thought it was a very good production.

I yelled "Danny Gokey" when Brandon screamed his notes at the end. The costumes were perfect and Brandon's had to have been designed for Adam - leather and glitter. Have to give it to John who certainly attempted emoting with his trembling chest in the final scene.
