Being an Adam fan is a blessing and a curse. Many singers who I have admired greatly before I knew Adam now seem somewhat mediocre in comparison. I DO enjoy other singes, believe me. But my standards have been raised so damn high that it's hard sometime to enjoy someone's voice without comparing their voice to Adam's. Adam IS a rare vocal beast. And it's not just we Glamberts who think so. The music biz acknowledges that fact, too. Add to that the fan-love that we feel for Adam as a person, and you've got a pretty critical group of fans. I count myself as one of those in that group and I'm not always proud of it. Does Ada come even close to Adam singing TSMGO? Not in my book. Not even close. But that doesn't mean that Ada did a lousy job or that she shouldn't get some praise for her giving that really difficult song a good try. She just isn't Adam. And I can't help making the comparison. Guilty as charged.

I work in a museum, and one of my co-workers, whom I've known for a long time, is a guy who immigrated from Russia and is now an art handler. He used to be a professional musician and composer back in Georgia, but like so many immigrants, when he came here he found there are no jobs for his profession. But he volunterily formed a museum choir, which he trains, conducts and accompanies on keys, and he does an amazing job with that. Today he happened to mention to me that he flew with his son on a weekend to Barcelona to see the sites and attend a football match. I told him I did the same a couple of years back, only I flew to London and combined it with a show, not a football match. I told him I went to see Queen, not so much for Queen, but for their current frontman. I didn't have to say anything further; He knew right away who I was talking about, and said he's an amazing singer with a crazy range. He said the things he's done during AI were unbelievable. I asked whether he's heard him sing WWTLF and he said yes, of course, and it's out of this world. So apparently he's watched Youtubes. But the thing which meant the most to me was not what he said, but how he said it: he talked about Adam as if it's abvious that he's one of the best singers out there, as if it's a well known fact, everybody knows it, and the discussion is redundant.
