I truly believe that if it weren't for his manager, Ash, it would have been the 2nd single here.
I agree. Acicii loved the song, and it seemed for a while that LMD was going to be the next single. But for some reason, it was skipped over. That song was a hit in the making but never got the chance to be heard.
It depends how you define single but by most measures it was/is a single. It got a chance and it was promoted. It also had a music video. It was the fifth single from
True -- and was released in the US.
It is hard for me to imagine that LMD could have been a bigger commercial success than "Hey Brother" particularly in the US and Canada. It only charted #39 in Sweden.
LMD was clearly an Avicii favorite and featured at Avicii concerts for a long time. It also got club play. and was featured in the global Summer 2014 Lipton Ice Tea as campaign. (The brand ran a different campaign in the US and Canada that summer.)
LMD charted in many countries but was not a bit hit. And yes, it was sent to US radio -- but dance not mainstream pop. Since it did not get traction on dance radio and was not picked up by Rhythmic formats, it had no shot of crossing over to Mainstream Pop.

I am a fan of LMD but I actually think there are other Adam songs that were more worthy of a shot on mainstream pop. Top of my list is they should have sent "Runnin'" to Alt Rock radio stations. I think it would have been a Top 10 song in the format in the US and Canada. And I still think the TOH should have been promoted to mainstream pop. Not sure it would have been a big hit but that is a great song.
That said, streaming media is the ultimate judge, and Ghosttown is the song that people have embraced. But #3 for Adam is "Runnin'" a f'ing bonus track that almost did not get released and got 0 airplay or promotion.
Adam has agreed this was a mistake.
