"Confused" was probably not the right word - I just picked up on Brian's wording in his explanation - however, I am a bit surprised that the film's focus is so much on Freddie. I am sure there are reasons for it. My immediate reaction is that I would be more interested in the history of the band etc. but I will reserve judgement until I have seen the movie Freddie enthusiasts are probably thrilled. cheriemelissa I may be getting "confused" myself (it seems to be happening more often, lately!) but if I recall correctly, all the newspaper reports on the film over the years have talked about the "Queen biopic" and never the "Freddie Mercury biopic" so I had no idea until Brian's explanation that the film is primarily Freddie's story. I'm pretty sure I read that the film was the story of Queen from their inception through to Live Aid. But on reflection, I think that Freddie's story will make for a more interesting film for the mass market. Now I remember, I too had the "Queen biopic" in my head. That's why I was surprised. Good point though that Freddie's story may be more of a draw.

Good point though that Freddie's story may be more of a draw. I always got the impression that it would be more about Freddie but a lot about Queen too cause that was a big part of his life. What I also remember was that Sacha wanted to make it all about Freddie's sex life and Brian said no. I really think you can tell a story about someone like Freddie by including his sexuality but not making that all that he was. I think I read that he left his estate to Mary so they can't pretend that she was not an important part of his life. She was important to Freddie. I'm sure they will cover the AIDs part as well but the Trailer should highlight the excitement his Queen run and parts of his life to draw in an audience (male, female, straight, gay) in order to hear and understand his life. I would not be interested in a movie that was all about who Freddie slept with. I want the story behind the man and how things unfolded for him and his bandmates. I wish that guy would stand down and give the movie a chance to get out there before trashing it. The movie is probably a human and complex story and maybe a bit fascinating.

I expect the movie to be tasteful and authentic and insightful as well, so I agree with your take on it. Brian sure is excited about it. I personally don't know much about Freddie, in fact I don't even know who Mary was, so I am definitely interested in learning more about the mysterious man behind the musical genius, in hope that the other band members are adequately tied into the story as well.
