I think Adam comes across more masculine on stage than in real life, not sure if he's trying to or if it's natural. I've met him a few times in short meet and greets, or in passing - not only does he seem much thinner in person, but I've noticed more gender fluid type mannerisms, still very sexy. A friend who has met and talked with Adam several times said the same thing to me. That he was more obviously gay in these more private interactions. She did not mean it as a criticism at all. She is from the theater community and has many gay friends. Just an observation.

ITA -- I also have just had short meet and greets -- but he seems different off stage, and not like anyone else I have ever met.
Even in M&Gs he is not always the same. He is like a chameleon -- with some common threads: He is always nice, strikingly thin (except in 2009 during the Idols Live! tour), and very tall.

This side of Adam, possibly closer to how Adam is in his real life, not his stage persona, is more visible in his earlier performances. Watching this one particular performance would have made me question if he is gay. Though it might be cause Adam has that "fluidity", that vibe here which are very similar to all three of my favourite male dancers in the world and all 3 of them are gay. Adam moves like they do. None of the straight dancers I've seen have this" fluidity" so to speak. Maybe it does come from the inside & its not just technique. BTW Adam Rippon has the exact same vibe when he dances on the ice or dance floor as he did in Dancing with the Stars. I figured out that one of the dancers was gay because of how he moved & talked & the little things. I was surpised to read that he was married when my " radar" screamed he was not straight. He came out later. I can see how it can be percieved as "effeminate" though. I can imagine this performed by a straight dancer, it would look more like the guys from Magic Mike, sorta macho-men to me. Adam has this "fluidity" here yet he is hot as hell: m.youtube.com/watch?v=EBlmcak7cuA Thanks for posting this video - it really got me hooked many, many years ago when I started googling Adam during his Idol run. He is fabulous and effortless and very sexy in this performance, and I am still most delighted when watching it. I believe that gay dancers have that extra level of fluidity that comes natural, something that straight dancers/actors probably have to really work on to pull off, if at all. It is that extra sparkle commonly seen as "effeminate" I think, which to some degree is probably not too much applauded by mainstream audiences. I agree, Adam Rippon moves in a similar way whenever he is less confined by dance genres. I love how he skates and I really enjoyed him in DWTS. He and Adam appear to have found a good balance. Terrance comes to mind right now... He is one fine example of a dancer who is capable of representing different moods and taking on various "roles". A true professional in his craft. I am very happy for him to have landed that part in Hamilton the musical!
