Why can't these publications (probably someone straight who did not have to deal with the crap) give Ada credit for what he accomplished without taking a swipe at Clay or Adam? Clay and Adam were not responsible for the homophobia that they faced in America. And neither one of them are drag queens so not the same thing. And there were many gay contestants before Clay and after Adam (some even outed themselves on the show a few seasons later) so that did not start with Ada either. The only other drag queen from Idol was Adore but that was later. That would be your comparison. Besides, when Clay and Adam competed, Idol would not have let Ada anywhere near that stage dressed in drag. Lucky for him he came thru during a more accepting time. He certainly did not have to face all the hits that Adam faced while on the show. And Adam faced them because they knew he was gay and everyone was talking about it. He was out and that he did not make an announcement on the show made no difference. Ada Vox applauds 'Idol' for embracing someone 'a little bit different'
Female impersonator Ada Vox made “American Idol” history when she advanced to the Top 10 in the season that ended in May. The reality competition, now on ABC, has come a long way — neither Clay Aiken nor Adam Lambert referenced being gay when they competed on the show. www.stltoday.com/entertainment/music/kevin-johnson/ada-vox-applauds-idol-for-embracing-someone-a-little-bit/article_15557b1f-b4ac-5008-b32e-08ace021524d.htmlEverything is a competition ... Another paper looking for some hits.!!!!!!!!. so over Adam didn't scream I'm coming out on AI ,when he was already OUT.Gets me a bit crazy .. the press is one pain in the butt

He wanted it to be about the singing. I suspose he could of made a big deal about it. But he diddn't want to distract from the purpose at hand. Thank god for Ada Vox. She changed the game for everyone!! PPL can just worry about brushing their teeth, taking a bath. Than hit the stage. And not have to disclaim Oh Btw Im straight, sorry if that bothers you.... But boy can I Sing! .

@louise_mtn_wmn: I have tix 9/1 (good seat) & 9/2 (great seat) for QAL Vegas, but I can’t go bc knee replacement surgery on 8/6. I won’t be mobile enough for the last shows. Happy for new knee, sadz about missing shows. 😁😢 If you’re looking for a solo seat on these dates, DM me. @adam_Tickets

And the thing that is so annoying is that Adam got voted thru week after week and into 2nd place with everyone knowing, talking about and stressing over his sexuality. But his talent and charisma was so big that it carried him far and almost to a win. Not to take anything away from Ada but the judges put him in the top 10 with the save. The voters never voted him thru even once. They voted in the top six and the judges selected Ada as one of the four wild card spots. When they got a chance to vote again he was gone. So his talent did not help him beat the odds and go far on the show. So not sure who this writer is applauding for gains made or why.
