In the past couple of weeks I've been to two live screenings at my local cinema - the King and I from the London Palladium and The Nutcracker ballet by the Royal Ballet from Covent Garden.
These "live" screenings as they call them, (recorded in front of a live audience but not actually live) are becoming increasingly popular in the UK (and maybe in other countries, I don't know).
It struck me that with there being no QAL European tour next year and on the heels of the huge success of the film, this would be the perfect way for them to fulfil the desire of many new fans to see a live show.
The two screenings I saw recently were fabulous and gave me the opportunity to see shows I would never have taken the trouble and expense to travel for.
I'm sure that for every fan who would buy a live concert ticket, there are dozens who wouldn't be prepared to shell out that much cash but would be keen to see a show on the big screen in their local cinema.
I believe the Stones have done it and probably other bands that I don't know about. I understand that they have to be careful as a live screening can potentially reduce ticket sales for a live show but since they don't appear to be touring Europe next year anyway, this wouldn't be a problem.
If anyone here has contacts in the Queen camp maybe they could put the idea forward (or maybe they're thinking of it already, it seems the next logical step.

Ann, those live things are becoming very popular here in Germany as well. My local theater has offered quite a few of them. Haven't been to one but i hear some cinemas make this whole experience out of it with dressing up and champagne and the whole deal. alot of Opera is offered and i believe it's actually live here.
