My take on the doc airing is totally different. I think this was the agreement made as payment for them performing on the Oscars. Brian alluded to some drama. Adam said they weren’t, then they were. The Oscars needed a big opener having no host and something to pump up as must see tv. I could totally see Jim Beach saying this is what it will cost ABC, two hours of airtime for their documentary. And Philymack added while you are at it, we want two Idol slots for Adam. Abc found a week before they started The Bachelorette, so it all worked out. They got decent ratings for the doc and good press. Was a win, win, win for everyone. Jim Beach has always been a tough negotiator and business man The only problem with that is that they started with this footage last summer already at the O2. They recorded the shows there and people were made aware there were extra camera's. A lot of the concert footage with audience and such is from those shows. They also filmed quite a lot in Vegas already with Adam being interviewed and Brian. What could be is that they were planning it already and the air date came a bit quicker with the ABC deal. Hence the interviews done after the announcement with Adam and most likely also some other stuff which got added later. We'll see if they customize the documentary for other areas. I think I did see some of the European venues in the last shots of the Brian selfies. I think I even saw myself possible twice. I need a copy to verify that though so downloading it now!

The news footage that was shown about the Pulse shooting was ABC's, and also that guy Chris Connelly that's interviewed throughout is from ABC. Do you think that's all last minute's tweeks? This is what Dr Bri said re the subject of production and world wide availability www.instagram.com/p/BwvRXRhBsPr/?utm_source=ig_share_sheet&igshid=rgua440rlhuj

But regarding the AMA performance, what gave me chills was the comment "it was right out of the Freddie Mercury playbook". Don't know why that affected me but it was like an other worldly chill. Maybe because it framed it differently for you, and gave it a wider and legitimate context. I think many Americans thought, because of the backlash, that it was wrong of Adam to do that, when really it wasn't. The American media's reaction was wrong. That's exactly the right thing for an artist to do - be a rebel, be himself, and broaden the viewers concepts and horizons. Yep. I didn't think what he did was wrong but the backlash was horrifying. I was writing letters and emails in support and that was something I had never done. And just seeing it revisited was hurtful, at least for me. But he was a newbie and you don't change what was agreed to for presentation by the network. And they used that to justify their OTT actions against him, when we know what they were really upset about. But Adam come out on the other end and all is well. I still think it hurt him in the US. But it allowed others to walk in and reap the benefits of his bravery. They looked absolutely innocent by comparison. So maybe it was a good thing that someone carried the torch who could handle all the pressure that followed.

In the documentary, when the showed the Iheart portion, I swooned. Adam looked like a combination of a model and a rock star. And you could just tell he knew how good he looked. The confidence was electric. And as usual, he was on fire that night with his performance. ETA: Agree with Jablea. ABC's call. Tie in to Idol and soon after Queen and Adam did the Oscars on ABC. It was great timing for them. Glad they did it for whatever reason, lol. I don't think I realized until the documentary, that iHeart was their first US performance together. I'm looking on the wiki page and it looks like they did a US tour as QPR but that was way back in early 2006. With the iHeart performance in late 2013 it wasn't quite a decade but it was pushing close to 9 years. Here's the RollingStone article. www.rollingstone.com/music/music-news/queen-and-adam-lambert-dominate-night-one-of-iheartradio-174439/----- Following Perry came the most anticipated act of the night: Queen with Lambert. Before their set, Queen’s Taylor and Brian May spoke to Rolling Stone about why Lambert is such a great fit for their music. “He does bring his own approach and he has this amazing range, a gymnastic, beautiful tone and he really fits our material so well,” Taylor said of Lambert. “He has all the elements – he has the passion, he has the humor, a little bit of camp. And when the shots are down, he has the power. It’s incredible,” May added. Lambert astounded the audience on songs like “We Will Rock You” and the closing “We Are The Champions” and “A Crazy Little Thing Called Love.” He frequently worked in unison with May, the two sharing the front of the stage as the guitarist reminded everyone of his considerable prowess by bringing his parts in “Bohemian Rhapsody” to life. Fun’s Nate Ruess took over vocals on “Somebody To Love.” He then brought Lambert back out (praising him as “one of the best singers I know”) for the supergroup combo on the rollicking “Fat Bottomed Girls.” The night ended appropriately with a triumphant “We Are The Champions.”

I totally think this was all a package deal negotiated with ABC. I wouldn’t say they held them hostage, ABC got a lot from it as well. Queen had all the footage from the tours, they already had this documentary in the works. They present it to ABC in some format. Then ABC edits it and bundles it up with some new stuff with Rami etc, pumps up the Idol Cinderella story for the US market. There may be some other versions or extras coming who knows. Queen doesn’t do anything for free and why should they? :D It’s brilliant.
