Also, just want to give a shoutout to this backing band -- they are good. Angie Swan is an excellent guitarist -- I hope we get a longer version on Ellen with Angie and the guitar break. I assume he had the same band on Ellen. Has this been confirmed? First of all, I think the band is the same for Ellen. The guitarist posted that she was at both and she is the only one not in the video. And I too seriously missed the guitar bridge at Idol, so fingers crossed. Secondly, I have been contemplating this single release strategy and actually agree that NE may not be the big track. So, what does that mean? a. In the past, the labels were more in control of the release and promo budget and if they didn't make a good return right off the bat then 👎. But I don't think that is the case for independent producers and labels. b. This time I think Adam is more in control and probably has more cash on the line, which is just fine, he has the money to spend on promo. Conversely, you don't want to waste a promo budget. c. Albums were usually released with the first single, but that does not seem to be the case anymore either. Heck, it might be the third or fourth track that explodes because nobody knows what is on the album. d. But if you have a more fluid spread out release then you can focus your promo budget differently.
So, I am thinking that they are releasing singles to mesh with other promo opportunities, in other words, a more global strategy. For instance, they could release a single to coincide with The Playmobile movie. My best guess is the big track will be released with the album (as long as overall interest is maintained) and a concurrent round of promo. I hope Adam doesn't burn out with all constant promotion, but I don't think that will happen either with family, friends, and lovers in his corner. Thanks. And your thoughts about the promo strategy make sense -- one thing is clear -- this promo is tightly planned and well put together. So far, it is working.
I think the next promoted single will be the "big" track and it will lead the album release. They will probably put out around five tracks, with two promoted singles before the album -- so they can get fans to complete the album in week 1 of album sales. That means three or so more tracks before the album.
And, the single/track release plan is almost certainly based on what happens with NE. If it is a hit, then they will wait.
Another promo opportunity is June, Pride.
Since Adam has a song in the Playmobile movie, they may leave that separate. But since the movie opens on August 16, 2019, looks like it could be around the album release. So more press that they can leverage.
In any case, we still don't have an album release date. September? August?
August will be crowded this year; music will be eligible for the 2020 Grammy awards if it’s released by August 31, 2019 -- one month earlier than last year.
