The first shows with Queen came after Trespassing was released in 2012 and though it hit #1, it was quickly apparent that the singles did not connect. This was clearly devastating for Adam as he later confirms, and QAL could not have come at a better time. It took a year for them to re-connect in Las Vegas and in that year Adam did some touring in Asia etc. but under what auspices could he have quickly come out with more music? His was in a bind creatively because of the whole RCA cover album demand. That was also the time his relationship with Sauli ended. He knew he had to switch labels and again, a QAL tour 2014 materialized out of the fall 2013 iHeart smash success - it could not have come at a better time. I believe he got the Warner offer as soon as he parted with RCA but with all the legal hocus pocus, he wasn't in a position to seriously work on new music. No way he could release a new album immediately. JMHO QAL did not stand in the way - the timeline was what it was because of how his solo career went.
TOH released in 2015. Doesn't seem QAL interfered with that but that either. If anything, the problem in the US was the Demi Lovato arena tour debacle where Adam had to quickly reconstitute his venues. He did that TOHT tour along with QAL - both all over the world However, again, when the 2nd song did not connect, the solo career seemed to stall and as we now know, Adam was struggling with TPTB at Warner over his artistic identity. It took a long time to sort that one out - all the way until now in terms of a release of new music and in the meantime there was always QAL. Did that collaboration make that time longer than necessary? I have no idea but what seems clear is it contributed hugely to his ability to follow his musical heart and take the time to carve his own way - both from a financial and "familial support" point of view.
I know and respect that others have strong feelings about QAL versus Adam's career. I am in the camp of it was a jinormous blessing. He was/is the rarest talent with or without Queen, but how many would have known about him? Could he have come back and done a fourth album with this kind of visiability given how things went? No way to answer that but I think looking at those years after his Glamnation tour through now, with respect for everyone else's opinions, I don't see QAL as an impediment.

Theosgma, I am quoting your entire post. It is thorough, logical, very clear, and avoids any ad hominem issues.
I don’t know why, but I have noticed that at times on this forum, there will crop up a host of posts with some variant of how Adam isn’t as successful as he “should be”, with others offering differing opinions, and with things occasionally getting heated.
Although I never posted much, fairly recently made.a decision to post very rarely except on benign topics, not because I am frightened of debate: I taught an argumentation and debate class for many years. It is precisely because, I suppose, of how things can go in this forum, especially lately, as others have pointed out, and I’ll almost bet we have lost some potential members and/or that some existing members have dropped off.
The guidelines for this site are really comprehensive while allowing for respectful exchange of ideas. To just start adding more and more guidelines would, I guarantee, only serve to make things worsse on many levels. Needless to say, if the moderators feel that more guidelines are needed, they are more experienced than I in that area.
However, and I have no idea who wrote these comments and I know some discussion has already been made on the first two, but I was gone—I wonder what was the intended message for the intended audience? How was it delivered? What was the actual impact and outcome of the message?. Here are just a few examples that I found when I came back from my visit:
(1) Absolute proclamations of what it takes to be a fan (2) Stating in no uncertain terms that people who weren’t willing to follow said terms to whatever degree should leave; and today, ((3) Calling someone’s opinion “ridiculous”.
In my opinion, only the first item after changing the wording to something a bit more open-ended might have provided an interesting discussion. Maybe saying something like “What has it meant to you to be a fan of Adam, and do you have any interesting and perhaps funny stories of what you have done as a fan (e.g., buying 15 Emperor Maximus sets)? I’m sure there are better ways to word the first item but this is just something that cane to me quickly.
But what on earth is the point of suggesting people leave the forum or calling someone else’s opinion “ridiculous”? We don’t have to agree on what we believe, but can we all agree on courtesy and not on feeling that we have to qualify so many things we say in apprehension of how it might be taken? Electronic Communication is one of the trickiest communication formats so not assuming the worst and giving the writer a break unless a disruptive, disrespectful pattern emerges is key. Then, more open, lively discussion can be thought-provoking and just plain fun.
😐 Sorry that this probably seems pedantic, but I do feel strongly about the growing problem of feeling really reticent to post, and again, I did not go back and look ar anyone’s name to see who posted what. And I certainly am not perfect by 1,000%! See, I even felt the need to end on a note of apology.
