"But bottom line, listeners have to connect with certain songs and be willing to support them. I hope Adam has some strong ones on the way." I agree girldrummer. But they are not going to connect with music they hardly get to hear. I know many think streaming alone will do the job for Adam. But I have yet to see an Adam song take off by streaming alone. I would LOVE to see that happen but I won't believe it until I see it, lol. On the topic about Sharon, she is probably just pissed because Queen is now receiving so much attention and doing so well. Her guy is not. No one is really talking about him. Sour grapes and all. She can't really knock Freddie because he is not here so Brian and Roger are her targets. And no one cares if she does not watch BR the movie. They sold enough tickets to do fine without her. BTW, I would not pay to watch a movie about her and Ozzy, lol. You're right, lurleene. Right now, Adam's new music is pretty much heard by his fan base. And yes, streaming is not enough when his fan base isn't as huge as those at the top of the BB charts. Adam is obviously being a realist about this. I'm sure he has carefully thought it through and has talked to others for ideas and advice. Truth is, IMO, he's not quite pop, not quite rock, not really soul or blues, although he can sing any genre you throw at him. He's a real anomaly. He's got a Broadway voice, an extravagant stage presence, a winky, sexy humor, good looks to the max. You'd think all the right ingredients were right there. But marketing him has not been easy. It's a mystery, because all kinds of singers make it to the top of the charts, all sizes, shapes, races, ages, sexualities, talent levels, genres, genders. Some of them are a lot more "out there" than Adam is. People tweet that he is so under-rated. True, but he's also still unnoticed and undiscovered by far too many.

I would throw in some opera too. He’s one of a kind.

But is it really top 40 or nothing? There is alt and other areas that Adam's music would fit. I wonder why no one ever tried to get him on some of the formats that don't play Ariana and Mendes 24/7. A format that is not so dependent on teen approval. He had pretty much outgrown them when he started. Tho there was/is always room for crossover appeal as many have successfully done. I am happy that Adam has decided to stop chasing Top 40. There is more to success in the music business than radio.
I am also happy that he has the freedom to record what he wants.
On other formats....
While some music crosses over from other formats to Top 40/CHR, the Top 100 singles are dominated by CHR hits -- no matter where they started.
Adam's singles have mostly been in the Pop/Adult Contemporary market. Rock/Alternative/Indie? Not really where Adam's music fits.
There has been a lot of promo focus on CHR and HAC for Adam -- and if he wanted to record mid-tempo ballads he could do well on HAC and AC, and on most CHR stations. Some of his singles were promoted to Dance/Electronic format stations and Clubs. GT was promoted to some RHM stations.
If Adam records a great song, it will get airplay...
With Lil Nas X at #1 and Sam Smith's latest release entering the charts in the Top 40, there is no problem with gay artists on CHR. Adam is not too old -- there are many examples of older male artists with Top 40 hits.
It is really about the music. And so far, none of the Velvet singles have been latent radio hits. Perhaps the next one will fit a radio format.

Adam is a brilliant vocalist and performer and song stylist. Idol to QAL, it has been as a performer that he was unparalleled. I believe that WCF will a big moment for Adam -- and the demos will be <40 for this one. So I am optimistic that many, many people will discover.

Ok, I promised a recap, so here it is. It might be long, so scroll is your friend. I am staying at a lovely airbnb in Potomac on a horse farm. I knew that I needed a place for some peace and quiet in the midst of all the mayhem that is DC traffic and a QAL concert (but how I love the mayhem of a QAL concert!!). Since I was driving, and I'm from the West, I needed a few days to drive around and become familiar with where I was parking (yes, I was driving - too nervous about that closing time of 11:30 PM on the Metro) and the location of the arena. Downtown DC is a CRAZY place to drive, with so many one way streets, traffic circles, congestion, etc! I was a nervous wreck maneuvering all that, but was thankful for my research come time to get to the concert and home again. I couldn't get into my parking garage until 6 PM, but that all worked out just fine. Stood in line at the VIP entrance in the terrible heat and humidity for about 40 minutes, chatting with some very nice folks who were both Adam and Queen fans. A father and daughter duo were next to me in line - so sweet - he gave his daughter (21) her ticket for Christmas, and she was glowing. I just LOVE the diversity of people at QAL concerts!
Finally into the coolness of the arena - the folks checking us in were nothing short of wonderful. Found my seat - section 112, first good section off the floor on Brian's side, fifth row. (I can't be on the floor standing for that length of time). For the most part, very nice folks around me except for one screamer about four rows back who was trying to destroy my eardrums! I was ecstatic that "Now I'm Here" was the opening song - such wonderful memories of the first NA concert tour in 2014 (I was at the Joint twice, and then Dallas) with that song as the opener - LOVE IT! Adam looked FABULOUS in his "very gay suit"!! The pace of this concert seemed faster than previous QAL concerts that I have seen, with what seemed like more "medleys" of songs. It was all going by so fast!! "The Show Must So On" was a welcome addition to the earlier set of songs. Must say that the set and screens were magnificent, but I did miss Frank's incredible entrance. But at least they had several references to Frank. Adam on the grand piano for "Killer Queen" was great, but being on top of Frank's head was hard to beat! LOVED the motorcycle for "Bicycle Race" - Adam played it up beautifully. Must say, that Adam's voice keeps sounding better and better - how is that possible?!! The only downside is that I found the acoustics not as good as other arenas, such as the AA Center in Dallas, the Sprint Center in KC, the Pepsi Center in Denver, the arena in Phoenix (name escapes me right now), the Joint in Vegas, and the Park Theater in Vegas has spoiled me forever for QAL sounding the best that I have ever heard,
Adam was extremely warm and inviting to the crowd (can't remember when he hasn't been) and was very playful, dancing a lot and seemed to be enjoying himself immensely. And, I for one, think the "Freddie" speech is an integral part of this show - so many hardcore Queen and Freddie fans really seem to appreciate it to a great extent. Adam really seemed to love the DC crowd, as did Brian, Roger, Spike and Neil. Brian's solo was really enhanced by more graphics (the graphics and lasers throughout the show were AMAZING), and when Brian sang "Love of My Life" I don't recall seeing more cell phone lights than during previous concerts. WWTLF (my favorite QAL song) brought me to tears as it always does. Adam's costumes were superb, but I particularly loved the "gay gold and black suit", the silver outfit with the "fringes, and most of all the exquisite red and gold coat for the finale. THAT is the best outfit, in my humble opinion. It was another GLORIOUS NIGHT, and fortunately, I'll see them again in Philly in not too may days. Crazy travel plans this summer (two weddings) has kept me to only two concerts, but I'm so grateful to see these marvelous performers another time. I'm also staying in an airbnb removed from the city center of Philly, so not sure I'll make the meet-ups there. Health reasons dictate tranquil surroundings and an available kitchen around the time of the concerts. Be advised - QAL are BETTER THAN EVER!!!

Hey, hey now...some of us like those 2 songs lol. Ha ha! These two posts made me laugh! Two great points!
I think many fans like both of these songs. But I like my Adam with a bit of an edge and this is Adam promoting NCOE...
I think they should put "Play the Game" back on the QAL setlist. (Never performed by QAL in the US. :( )
