christina91, good post!
For me, I have mixed feelings about the whole speech, but I try to be patient. I put myself in the hardcore Freddie fan's shoes, and I can guarantee you, I would have a hard time accepting a stand-in, especially from a reality show.
I don't even like it when people try to sing songs that I consider Adam's...step away from that song, whoever you are...that one belongs to AFL.
I adore Adam, think he's the best singer of his generation (not biased!), and there is no way I would go to a concert where someone else was singing his songs...
So I try to be patient.

At my show, Adam gave the torch speech for Freddie and recognized Brian and Roger and Queen. Nothing about the pink elephant or god. And no one ran from the arena in tears or protest or horror, lol. And with other shows where he gave the modified speech, I have heard nothing about any outrage. Obviously it is not needed to that degree. It has been 26 years. Some have never even seen Freddie live. And people enjoyed the show they paid to see. Queen with Adam as the frontman and some nice references to Freddie at various times. The whole place was rocking. Fans know Freddie was great and are not going to forget him if they were fans. But Freddie is not coming back even if they want him there instead of Adam. But Adam can and does acknowledge him. He admires him. However, most don't need him to bow down before they can respect his talent and joy for helping to carry on the Queen legacy. He has been doing it for 8 years so it is pretty hard not to know that coming to the show.
