LindaG23, thank you for your wise and insightful post. It is very much how I feel, too. Adam's career has been full of the unexpected. That's one reason why I'm here. He is not generic in any way. I love sharing my passion with everyone here.

My 2 Cents about the lack of discussion: There is simply not that much news currently. Adam is on tour with QAL. That’s great as it is. But it’s the same show as in the US last summer. Even the setlist is more or less the same. Actually, it has stayed the same for about 3/4 of the songs for more than 200 shows. What is there left to talk about? In addition Adam himself isn’t posting much on his social media. At least nothing that makes me wanna talk about. I saw today that the band had visited an Island with Quokkas and went swimming. Adam had most probably been with them, but he hasn’t posted about it (yet?). Adam clearly must have decided some time ago to keep private things private. Even such things as a boat trip with other bandmembers, that the others are posting about. That’s ok. But it’s from my opinion one reason, why there is less discussion today than 3-4 years back. We simply have to live with the fact that we get less stuff to talk about. Don’t get me wrong: I’m not complaining, just trying to explain, why in my opinion there is less discussion here. So as long as there is nothing new happening, there is not much to talk about. I think that’s going to change, when Adam‘s album is out and his solo shows are going to start. 😊 Re the general drop in conversation levels and 'quality', IMO there are many reasons. Backing up didilyn..One plausible reason is simply that there has evolved a culture of 'only the good may be spoken'. .there has been an unfortunate tendency for a few fans to shred anyone who questions anything Adam does or says using tropes of "good fan--bad fan" that only serves to push peeps to silence or even off the board altogether. When Adam started out and many of us posted on PF and then here, social issues around inclusion and homophobia were the salient topics of the day. Being fans, we were pretty much all of a mind and it was exciting to be able to help in some way to push our dominant social ideology and passions forward. Adam rewarded our support with tweets and twitter parties...he praised us regularly, and generally seemed to care about our beliefs and concerns. The big issues of the day now go far beyond that and are more politically diverse. Our world is more polarized with little tolerance amongst people for difference. Following the expected paradigm of following Adam...and his liberal "left of center" views has put some of his fans in a difficult position....many I suspect are suffering from various degrees of cognitive dissonance so it is easier to remain silent...or feel silenced...when conversations do veer even remotely close to the political sphere. Natural and normal...but not conducive to sustained conversation as we used to do. I suspect many of us tend to group social conservatism in with politican conservatism and that is quite unfair to many....I know I am guilty of that thinking at times and have to give myself a mental faceslap. i know we have lost a few good fans because of that. One of the good things coming up...we really will have so much more to talk of and think of when Adam starts promoting his own stuff....it has been a long time coming and I look forward to it. Mind you...we still need to be prepared for another couple of years of Queen I expect...and it will continue to dominate his time until ...frighteningly...either Brian or Rager have a health crises of some sort. This is good for Adam as he builds on the nestegg that will support him indefinitely...but less fun for we who have him as our first priority. Don't get me wrong...I have come to really love QAL and their fabulous shows...I have mortgaged my soul to attend a number of them..BUT.. I really hope as his own music moves to the forefront, so does the importance of his fans. NOW DO NOT START THE LECTURES RE WHAT A BAD FAN I AM...that is the big problem here. All I am saying is there are many many celebrities out there that recognize the value of cultivating and maintaining a fan base. Adam has been really neglectful about this side of the job. That is just fine and his business...but it is also a natural consequence of that general neglect that can only be altered by a change in how he manages these things. QAL has innoculated him from the necessities of grooming a fanbase but the time will come that he needs to think about these things. JMHO SHOOT ME NOW! .....

I thing you are absolutely right about Adam being a little more interactive with his fan base. Did you notice the uptick on the amount of instagram views for that little bit of rehearsal fluff and his backstage stuff? It kind of says it right there. We don't need the personal stuff but more fun, behind the scenes really does make it more personal.

mszue, You read my mind. I love your line, "QAL has inoculated him from the necessities of grooming a fanbase." So true. He has had a fabulous "cushion" to fall back on. The old question "What if he had never fronted Queen?" will never be answered, BUT, the question "What will happen after QAL is over and done with" remains to be seen. He will have some leverage with carrying that lucky gig for a long time, but his own music and his own career experiences (acting? or whatever?) have to carry him for the long haul. Reality does set in.
I have to believe that he has thought about his post-QAL career many times.

jimmy Kimmel! Any ideas what he’ll sing? I think there are only a couple of songs on Velvet that we haven’t heard yet.... I’m hoping for something that shows off his full vocals, front and centre, rich and rounded. (And no false eyelashes ) I am hoping for "Velvet", assuming it is at least as good as the rest of the album, "Roses", and supposedly super sexy "On The Moon". Just throwing it out there as my immediate thoughts. I too am crossing my fingers for less "striking" eye decorations, and I would love a rather "classy" or "rock star with an edge" look.

Reality does set in. I have to believe that he has thought about his post-QAL career many times. In my opinion Adam will have enough money after QAL that he can do whatever he wants for the rest of his life. At least as long as he’s sensible enough with it. No need to overthink his career after QAL. His fanbase is fine, IMO. Nobody keeps all his or her fans engaged for a decade. A few, yes. But most won‘t be as active for the whole time. That’s our human nature, our lives and interests shift with time. There is nothing that Adam or we can do about it. That doesn’t mean, that „old“ fans won’t be back to buy his music or go to his concerts. Some will, some won’t. Every artist looses and gains fans all the time. And IMO Adam isn’t too concerned that a few of his over-the-top engaged fans might be gone by now.As much as every artist loves fans. They like their privacy as well. About the time differences: I live in Europe and the US tour was always in the middle of the night for me and other Europeans here. But we did come here for the first concert of the tour. It really was a surprise for me to see that almost no one had been here for the start of this current tour leg. Maybe some you US folk need to up their fan game .

My 2 cents about lack of discussion here: I'm probably a bit oversensitive, but in the past, I have been hesitant to post because I was afraid my ramblings may be construed as being "angsty" - I can sometimes feel disappointment about Adams career (wanting more radio play, awards, whatever). There have been times I felt chastised about my opinions. I think that's to be expected on any social media though. A lot of regular posters have disappeared, probably many are sensitive like me but I think there are many who weren't that interested in Adam's work with Queen and others who aren't interested in Adam's musical direction and just want him to sing "rock" music or "pop" music or whatever they think he should be doing. I can definitely relate to your post. I tend to either hold back or overthink what's reasonable to post in order to not upset anybody.

mszue , you raised some good points. I agree that Queen has put Adam in a very "comfortable" position, which is really good on one hand but a little unfortunate for those who prefer to connect with him as a solo artist. However, as gypsyladee and others have pointed out, I too see a refreshing upswing lately coming from Adam with regards to his own fanbase. That's his future.

So much lovely fodder for discussion to read but it will have to wait as it is morning here and work beacons, but I will read and respond a bit later.
