I finally received my signed Velvet album! YAY! I touched and stroked the signature. LOL I was thinking about Adam working his way through a big pile of albums and I even think there is a bit of silver ink on the back of the cover. It looks great. My only wish is that they had included the lyrics. I remember the old days of listening to the music while sitting beside the record player and examining the album cover and reading the lyrics. I love looking at the artwork on vintage vinyl album covers and sleeves. Joni Mitchell's designed her album covers as she was also a painter and she had some very creative covers. Here are a couple: of the artist can really be brought out in their vinyl album covers. I love Adam's Velvet vinyl cover! I didn't know she was a painter. My best friend's older sister was a huge Joni Mitchell fan. I always like the album covers that had behind the scene photos. I stared for hours at the cover of Carole King's "Tapestry" album!

I've noticed that Adam has never seemed to be comfortable with that kind of interaction. I do wonder how he is doing emotionally right now. So many people are struggling with their mental health. We know he was depressed before he released "Feel Something" and he mentioned talking with a therapist recently. Obviously, Covid has really shook up his plans for the year and who wouldn't feel disappointed and dejected. He thrives on performing live and he must feel anxious about what the future holds for that. Also, he might still be getting over the loss of his relationship. On the other hand, maybe he is just fine! Maybe he is busy with someone new??!!

I just saw this and it made me think of Adam. So often I hear people say that Adam was born with a great voice, or he has a natural talent for singing. While Adam was certainly born with a certain physiology that can produce that incredible resonance, and vocal cords that have the potential to produce that wide range, that does not recognize how hard, how passionately he has worked on his craft since he was 10 years old. They don't recognize that his ability to sing so seamlessly from low to high, from delicate to powerful, from tender to rough and raunchy, across genres, with such purity and ringing, is the result of endlessly committing to his voice and performance with constant practice and striving to grow.

Katy Perry and Kelly Clarkson have recently spoken about depression and talking to a therapist. I think artists and stars are just more willing to talk publicly now (about the importance of mental health) without a stigma being attached. Unless they are bipolar or have some serious mental health issues like Demi, it is probably nothing to worry about. It is a good thing that they can afford to have a professional on standby to talk things out. Someone to check in with when needed.

Yes, my family was somewhat disapproving at the beginning, but they thought I would get over it! LOL I guess they just roll their eyes a bit now and realize this is not going away! That could be me talking. One reason I love this fan group is because if I was the ONLY person of my age who felt this way, maybe I would be questioning my sanity. I've been head over heels for Adam since AI, and though I got too busy to follow everything for a few years, I have more time again since mid-March (with luck I'll be back at work in mid-Sept.) and have watched hours and hours of past concerts, the entire AI journey, interviews dating back a decade and just generally been immersed in all things Adam. My fan girling has not abated one bit, LOL, and I've never had this with another artist! The only thing I would wish, is that Adam connected just a little more frequently with fans though Instagram live chat or Twitter parties - esp. during these past months were he's not been working as much and many of us are also laid off. I don't know what other big name artists do, but I checked out some of the people on his LGBTQ roundtable and one said he has weekly Instagram chats with fans and generally makes a lot of effort to connect with them because they're so important to his career. Oh well, we can dream, I guess. Unfortunately, fan interaction has never been Adam's strong suit, except for his earlier years may be where he reached out on twitter more. Though I understand that he may not be in the mood currently to chat up his fandom, I do find it surprising that someone like Adam who seems to have opinions and who has been known for his charisma is relatively unengaged with his fans. Clearly, not everybody is like Brian, who so eloquently and genuinely shares on IG his thoughts and stories through his many ups and downs. Thankfully, Adam gave us a terrific mini concert on Sunday, which was quite the treat, and ( edit) I do appreciate that he posts regularly about politics.

Joni once said that she paints her joy and sings her sorrow. I think she is a complex genius and a treasure. Originally from Canada, still has a place on the west coast I believe. There was a doc on her "Woman of Heart and Mind" and an extensive biography by Malka Marom which are interesting.

I know I'm late to this discussion, but just have to add that, like others on this site, I have found a really great place to share my passion. I would go crazy if there wasn't a place like this. I would feel so alone. I would wonder if anyone else felt as deeply as I do about Adam and everything he represents to me. My family "gets it," even though they are not "into it." They like Adam just fine, but they don't follow him. Big difference!
