Hello Adamtopia!!!
"We all think we are tough until we hear Adam sing." How true! This must be the reason I haven't listened to him sing in the past days. Have to remain tough a little longer; at least until, with a grateful heart, I take my little cache of treasured belongings from the trunk of my car and bring them back into my house. The winds have changed and it looks like we'll make it through this latest firestorm. The grace of Mother Nature has yielded to us; but, as we have grace, the little communities of Calistoga and Angwin are experiencing her wrath. Entire populations are fleeing. Because the wind changed.
It loosens this numb heart to read your messages of thoughts and concern.
I just paused for a minute to wipe the ash off my desk. I left a window open last night, and these fine fibers made their way in. I wonder what they were, before they became like a tiny dusting of snow. I'm cleaning this desk with respect; reverence, almost, as I mourn what is being lost in this moment. Ash is something that matters.
This is an Adam site! So I will just say that Adam fans are the most enthusiastic, most caring, most positive and persevering people I know. These attributes have helped me, and certainly others, through difficult and trying times. Some of you were here during lonely nights when my newborn granddaughter, Penelope, was in the NICU. You were here when my mother died, only hours after Adam sang "just like a ray of light, she's flying . . ."
It may seem like I live in harm's way. But, for 43 years, there were no fires. Then, 2017 happened, and we lost everything. Since then, these fires have been relentless. October used to be my favorite month - Autumn, my favorite season. I hold out hope for many things. That these fires will end. That this heat will subside. That we'll find a vaccine. That QAL will tour, and I'll be in London, in 2021. Hope is the food that sustains. I look out my window, to the deer, turkeys, fox, squirrels, quail, doves. They live; they survive, with a constant awareness of danger. They just keep on. Count me among them.
Time to listen to Adam sing.

Momtomany...So glad you are safe and the fire moved away from you. You and all who have experienced the path of these fires have such courage and I am inspired by your strength.
