Just wanted to start the morning with the "hot' photo of Adam. Adam's in RomeAdam Lambert's IG story: Sightseeing in Rome, Italy 2020-10-03 www.youtube.com/watch?v=MKW73Al5pkMAdam Lambert Interview on R T L Boulevard, October 3www.youtube.com/watch?v=Zyc8CJOOpxAQueen #5 money earning musicians of 2019: $35.2 Million
If there is one group that should always be recognized for their musical efforts, it is none other than Queen! While Freddie Mercury certainly brought the group to life, Adam Lambert has been able to keep the legacy alive and it is clearly working out. The rock band managed to bring in a whopping $35.2 million in 2019, and a large chunk of that didn't come from touring or streaming, but sales! Physical sales are tough as is, but Queen has remained at the top of their game, making nearly $10 million in sales. Link: www.thethings.com/ariana-grande-musicians-wealthy-success-2019/

Interesting twitter convo with Adam mentioned about writing musicals. Both have twitter threads on this topic if you want to read more of what they had to say.
It all started with this comment made by a director and producer of musicals.
Then Adam's name was mentioned by a fan, although another tweeter said he was specific about who he was talking about earlier.
Eventually Adam's friend piped in. Made me wonder if he was co-writing the musical with Adam..
Some others piping in..

*a little side note first - Rhys is a friend of Adam Lenson, the first person who started the "debate", and in his thread he refers to Adam Lenson as "Adam" and calls him his friend. He doesn't say he is Adam Lambert's friend or connected to writing a musical with him. I think that may have been confusing for you, but it is clear from his exchanges with Adam Lenson that the two are friends.* Yeah, I saw these exchanges, and these are my thoughts -- I don't think that Lenson has a problem specifically with Adam Lambert. He is probably frustrated because he thinks a lot of pop stars come into musical theatre as outsiders and are given opportunities because of their big sounding names, and he clearly knows nothing about Adam or this musical so he is projecting his own frustrations onto this. It won't help trying to change his mind. He is the type of person who has convinced himself he's right. His own friend (that other guy, Rhys) gently and politely tried to explain to him why he was wrong, but his replies to that thread just show him repeating the same thing over and over again. He may have a point about some pop stars who are totally unconnected to musical theatre and who come in and are handed things, but we all here know that this is not the case with Adam Lambert. Even if we were to disregard all the years Lambert spent creating in theatre (and why should we disregard that? but never mind), we know that he has a major say in, or practically designs his own shows himself. The GlamNation Tour which had over a 100 shows around the world was all him, and even for the first Queen + Adam Lambert tour, I remember how he said it was his idea to make everything gold, and so the crew had to paint all the metalic-chrome pieces on stage. These few examples are enough for me to understand that Adam is more than just a singer - he thinks a lot about presentation, stage design, theatrics, and it all comes back to him basically growing up in theatre. He is a true "Creative" himself. He understands how a show works. So, this whole discussion that Lenson started is hard to get involved in. He might be right about some other pop stars, but he shouldn't have chosen Adam Lambert as his example, because Lambert is the farthest away from Lenson's idea of "pop star in music theatre" as one can be. I'm pretty sure some Glamberts tried to "teach" him about how and why Adam Lambert comes from the music theatre world and so on, but he just blocked them, which further convinces me there is no point in getting involved in his "debate". He is not interested in a debate, despite what he says in response to his friend Rhys. He was just venting his frustrations and I think Glamberts should just ignore him, instead of making this a bigger deal than it already is.

This guy (another theatre producer) has the right attitude:
Blake Klein @blakeklein
If anyone wants to bring attention to the craft of writing musicals, we should welcome them and encourage their work. Welcome to the club @adamlambert and look forward to your project! Xx

Super interesting twitter conversation...I tried to follow some of it. I do see both sides, and understand where this Adam is coming from. I didn't really see where he was talking specifically about our Adam? But maybe I missed the origin of the thread.
The thing is though, it's a fierce competition for resources everywhere in the art world, not just musical theater...so it's kind of unfair to tell people "stay in your lane" if they happen to be singers, pop or otherwise. Look at Jim Carrey...would it be fair to tell him "stay in your acting lane" when he's a brilliant (IMO) artist also. There are many, many others like him.
For lots of people like our Adam, creativity is like breathing air...they NEED to create...in whatever shape or form.
