I'm not very sensitive to this kind of thing - I know what I like (Adam) and have total belief in my good taste! Adam is allowing Brian to sell out all over they world and with more buzz and approbation than they have ever had and that's enough 'proof' of Adam for me. So criticism is water off this old duck's back and I am never irritated by all the not-that-deep stuff that goes on. But - I do think Brian could have praised Robbie without using ' we will never see better' type language. Entirely unnecessary when he could have just said how fantastic Robbie was and got his approval across - without inviting comparison with a man who is just about to start a new tour with them and who puts his ability as an entertainer out there on the line, to be judged, with all his heart and soul - for Brian and the Queen legacy, every night.
Insensitive and unnecessary.
Yup. Irony

I don't know if we have this great pic of Brian. For you, Talon. OOoh! I really like! I didn't get a chance to listen but scrolling through I was glad to see Days of Our Lives..(of course again Rog, you have other tracks you could give a whirl! But at least it's changing it up again a little...and I've always loved Days) BUT question for my OCD self. Even though I haven't listened to this tour yet, I'm still documenting for my little Queen Chronology Project I'm doing, and am I safe to assume that the "You've Got To Hide Your Love Away" moment that I've read from a few folks came just before Love Of My Life? Thanks ahead of time!

Thank you, talon, for your detailed and thoughtful response. You make some very rational, sound points, and make them with civility and gentleness. Personally, my appreciation of Queen is much less ardent than yours. While I recognize their creativity (as you said, mainly in the past), their enormous impact on music and culture, and their exceptional songs, my musical tastes have never matched Queen's, and back in the day I didn't buy or listen to their music. But, that's okay. My musical preferences rarely match those of my friends, and we are friends despite our differences. I have no investment in trying to shape anyone else's musical preferences. Not that I could, if I wanted to. I also do not feel any responsibility to advocate for Adam to be recognized as the most incredible singer of his or any generation. I don't feel a need to defend him against all naysayers. Yes, I want him to be successful, and financially comfortable. I want him to be respected for his talent and hard work. But, ultimately, I think that is HIS battle to wage, not mine. I simply get the opportunity to hear and watch an extraordinary artist on grand stages around the world. I am deeply grateful to Brian and Roger for teaming with Adam and providing me with that opportunity. As always, my pleasure I love hearing from Talon and his views and once again he has said some powerful things that made me go “Well said. Never thought of that. Totally agree”. I love reading everyone’s posts here and many have made me roll my eyes and many have made me silenty applaud. We are lucky as a fandom that we can enjoy Adam and Freddie. Not many fandoms can say that.

Guys, it is 11-1 on there. If we can get at least five of us to go make our point, we probably can make a stand in a place where they don't seem to ban peopl at all....... The Queenazis are so overbearing and think that Freddie is the only reason keeping Queen alive but he died like 25 years ago and he is not even that good of a vocalist live or in a record!!! Thanks for stepping up the fight guys. We're getting a little closer to equilibrium. LOVE that someone there put up Adam's version of WLL. Did Robert plant ever strut his stuff like Adam did for 52 nights in a row (and sing as angelic as Adam)? Nu-uh girlfriends! Hello there... (and hello to my friends here - Sorry I haven't been around as much. I have been following the tour - just not quite as actively - downloading the streams to eventually catch up - just a little meh with the setlist after dropping the NOTW stuff (getting AKOM back was nice but still would love to see them venture back out with some newer or more obscure tracks) AND more recently I've been constantly listening to the 40th anniversary edition of NOTW's bonus tracks - the raw sessions...THIS is what a ton of Queen fans have been wanting. More of that disc please.) BUT I saw this (and a few other posts) and wanted to put my $.02 in. For you and other newer posters who don't know me a quick intro...longtime Queen fanatic who came to this site to get the perspective from the other side. I never did get to see Queen live. I saw one QPR show. I have now seen 5 QAL shows. I knew AL and liked his voice - just didn't like much of his output song-wise (still don't really - just not my thing). I dug QPR, I dig QAL. I think Adam allows Queen to do more of their catalogue than anyone since Freddie. I appreciate getting to see B&R because of him. I do think he sings the pop and ballads very well. HE does WWTLF, Somebody To Love, Break Free, Radio Ga Ga very well. I don't think he sings the rocking songs nearly as well - he's just not a rock singer, imo. The tracks like Stone Cold Crazy, Hammer To Fall, Fat Bottomed Girls, etc. are not in his wheelhouse. I think that saying that (or anything remotely not positive) makes me a troll to some here, but all in all to me QAL was a great night out with some great music -- if a bit unadventurous and not nearly as "dangerous" as Brian likes to say. And if they do another American tour, I'll definitely go see at least one more show. Now to respond: What you are trying to do is half the reason the trolls are as reactionary as they are. I've been on Queen forums for a long time and I believe that most of them would simply ignore QAL if they didn't like it. They'd say "not interested" or "yech" once or twice and move on. Yes of course there are some overzealous trolls. But it was always at it's worst when overzealous Adam fans would come in preaching the gospel of Adam so to speak. Comments like the ones you made above (Freddie not that good a singer? - Hard to take you seriously after that to be honest - you come off as a troll when you say things like that -- and then following up with the Plant comment? Just strange when you seem to want respect for Adam and then follow up with comments like that. Freddie and Robert are some of the first names that come to MANY people's minds - not just Queen or Zeppelin fans - when asked about rock frontmen. If Adam has a quarter the career either of those two had he should feel extremely fortunate) Now if you went on a Queen site and said that or, like some previous posters, implied that Adam is anything more to Queen's legacy than a fine vocalist who allows Queen to still tour and perform today than it's fairly laughable. It merely comes across as a desperate attempt to legitimize Adam. This isn't like AC/DC or Van Halen where the vocalists were replaced and the new singer became part of the band and created iconic albums that sit along side the original lineup's catalogue. Those are different eras. The Bon Scott era vs the Brian Johnson era. The David Lee Roth era vs the Sammy Hagar era. Queen's time is generally past. Are they keeping the music alive by touring and reaching new audiences...Yes...and that is a great thing. But they made their mark a long time ago and almost anything they do now is more of an epilogue in a long career than something that is truly adding to the legacy. Honestly 1995's Made In Heaven album is when the band stopped creating their legacy and anything after has been mostly sustaining the brand...from the We Will Rock You musical to QPR to QAL, to Queen Extravaganza. But, I mean let's put the shoe on the other foot. Look around here? Some here (not all) can be just as overzealous the other way. I don't come on here expecting to change anyone's mind if I say that I believe that Freddie is a million times the singer/performer/creator Adam is and that it's not just myself being a Queen fanatic I mean hell...Type in google: Greatest rock singers of all time. When I did, I got Freddie as the first result. I tried a bunch of the links to top 20, top 15, etc. Freddie was 95% of the time in the top 5 if not 1 or 2. But if I tried to rally Queen fans come in here and mob the place to say that, I would fully expect people here to jump on me. But I also respect the yard I'm in so to speak and won't go that route. I don't deny that I prefer Freddie to Adam and let that be that. I don't even deny that if I had my way I'd rather see B&R tour by themselves doing really obscure tracks and solo material. I also don't deny that Adam is a fine vocalist. At the same time, I mean place yourselves in our shoes. Let's say Adam's fourth album is finally the smash hit that he and you all are looking for. He creates this really heartfelt and amazing musical album that cements him as an artist and something that goes down in history. 20 years later people are STILL talkinga bout it. Now lets say (god forbid) he dies young and this new whiz kid singer from YouTube named Maddie Fercury decided to do a tour of it in celebration and his fans came on here and said..."Wow Maddie is a gift from god." Or "He actually does it better than even Adam ever did." Or "Adam may have written and really felt this love song for Sauli but when MADDIE SINGS IT OH SWOOON..he really gets it!" I can imagine your reaction.....Whew! SO long story short. If you enjoy QAL, enjoy QAL. Come here to Adam sites to swoon with Adam...or on Facebook where there are a few very positive QAL groups. Even go to Queen sites and interact with those who are positive or at least open to the experience (like myself - I've had a number of great conversations over the years with some Adam fans....) But going to Queen sites to push Adam, is only going to be a waste of time and energy...and as effective as if I grabbed 5-10 Queen fans and came here to "defend Freddie". Freddie doesn't need defending. His place in the echelon is already well established. Adam doesn't need defending either. He's touring the world with 2 rock legends, making cash hand over fist, reaching new audiences and learning a craft to help him as he attempts to carve out his own legacy.

I just found my favourite sentence in the new tour program about Adam: „Stay tuned for the new solo album in 2018!“. Ha, so new album next Year!! ✌️😁 You never know about those types of thing. 1995 Let Me Live Single had a sticker on it saying "Featuring tracks from the soon to be released Queen At The BBC album". That album was released in 2016 And in 2000 the Freddie Mercury Solo Box Set mentioned the upcoming Queen Anthology. 2017...still waiting... Just joking around kind of - He probably will release it next year - just saying you can't take that stuff as definite...
