I was SOOOO glad they broke this out. I thought they might. And it's a song Adam handled quite well. I can't wait to see the Rainbow version. I popped in here to show you guys a...very rare performance.
On Freddie's birthday party in 1999....Brian gave it a whirl. I think Bri really loves the song and would never do it on tour, but for this he thought what the hell..

I have to say that during the 2012 mini-tour, I was NOT a fan of how Adam sang this one....and I was very disappointed. I looked forward to it and thought it would be one of the highlights. I can't tell you quite why I didn't get it, but I didn't at all so I had little hope I'd like it this year...BUT I have to admit it felt MUCH improved during this tour. It seems more natural and like Adam knows how he wants to sing it now. I don't know how legal it is on this site here BUT my fav performance of the song ever is still this one: My fav Adam performance - I'm not sure yet as they all blend in together for me. I really enjoyed Boston...but I'd have to get back to you on that :D

As part of an explanation to a friend about why Queen + Adam Lambert was a smash hit and other Queen collaborations were not so much, I was viewing a bunch of Queen Extravaganza performances. What a difference after watching QAL. What a let down. Of course they were not playing arenas, and didn't have a budget for the hoopla that QAL incorporates. But that was not the problem. It was just a bunch of guys (and one girl) standing up on stage doing Queen songs. No costumes, no hip thrusts and ballet turns, no characters and acting, no theatricality, no flamboyance, no showmanship. Boring. Vocally, after hearing Adam sing these songs in performance after performance, so brilliantly, so consistently, so impeccably, I actually cringed at times, and at other times could not continue to listen to the entire song. Admittedly, it wasn't crap. Marc does sound a bit like Freddie at times (tho' he looks like an insurance agent moonlighting as a rock singer), but that does not redeem the performances for me. He sings off pitch at times, he strains for high notes, his voice cracks, his tone is inconsistent , he is just not a great singer. A girl singing the low part of Another One Bites the Dust just sounds and looks all wrong. If you are a fan of Queen's music and enjoy going to live concerts in general, I guess it is an enjoyable night's entertainment. Seeing QAL is another experience all together. Another dimension of (un)reality. I know some folks on ATop don't like it when I or someone else makes comparisons between Adam and other singers. My ears and my mind cannot stop comparing. Sometimes I think we get lulled by Adam's level of performance and degree of excellence vocally and visually. It takes looking and listening to other similar artists or shows in order to appreciate how exceptional QAL is, and what a big part Adam contributes to that. Adam continues to make my jaw drop in amazement. I never really understood why fans of Marc would go onto YouTube videos of QAL or AL and trash Adam constantly and say Marc is so much better and should be the one fronting Queen. Marc doesn't sing WWTLF and since it takes so many singers to do what Adam does alone, there is no proof that he can handle 2+ hours of singing almost every night for weeks like Adam did. Don't know much about Marc's history but was he even a Freddie fan in his youth like Adam was or was he just capitalizing on being able to imitate Freddie (I took a look at his solo stuff and he didn't sound much like Freddie except for in a few notes). Other than him being able to sound like Freddie and somewhat looking like him, I don't see any other similarities. Never been impressed with the singing. No stage presence or charisma at all and I don't find him attractive in ANY way (but I didn't think Freddie was either). With Adam, we get drop-dead gorgeousness plus the amazing voice, stage presence, charisma, etc. I often can't get over how much Adam is the whole package. Out of curiosity, I googled box scores for QE and saw that they were not great. Good to great in Canada, but not great in the US, with as low as 34% attendance in SF. These venues were much smaller, between 776 - 3550. QE got great reviews on Ticketmaster so I was quite surprised to not see great box scores across the board. mbasic.facebook.com/notes/queen-extravaganza/queen-extravaganza-boxscores/415299048554400/I saw QE 3 times overall and I have to tell you they put on a hell of a show. It's a tribute band. A tribute band on it's own even if officially sanctioned is never going to play arenas. Boston looked pretty full for example. *shrug* I loved the show. Tyler Warren is a great drummer and Brian Gresh is a phenomenal guitarist. As for Marc...honestly and I hesitate saying this here, but I enjoyed his performance as much as Adam's. Much different styles and voices. But also trying to do much much different things.

If there is one positive thing about Reihmer leaving, it is that now I understand Talon a little better. I just can't accept that around anymore, I'll need at least a year for that to soak in, I think... I'm sad and a little upset. he's not going to be
Reihmer, I wish you all the best! I will miss you. Betty darling, thanks for accepting to be our new confectioner, the whole situation is significantly less sad because of you Did I miss something ? Talon is gone ?? Hope not !! Not gone. Fairly busy. Might be scarce for a bit...

Interested to see what the setlist will be for the festivals. I assume they play for about an hour/hour and a half or so. I do think they have some additions and i think it will follow a *similar* flow as to the full set - why change it drastically for a few shows? Although I think those that think the middle section slow it down may get to see what it's like without it.
SO
I'll predict something like this:
Now I'm Here FBG AOBTD Killer Queen Somebody To Love Teo Toriatte (B&R w/Adam coming in at the end - Japan not Korea - POSSIBLE that it's just B&R so Adam doesn't have to learn ANOTHER new song or just to give him a break in the set) Under Pressure (A&R) Dragon Attack Love Kills Mini-Guitar solo (like 1/3 - more full Last Horizon with little snippets of Brighton Rock thrown in) TYMD Ga Ga Crazy Bo Rap
I Was Born To Love You WWRY/Champions
If I were in charge and given the parameters of not being able to revamp the set list - flows the same, etc.
Now I'm Here Stone Cold Crazy Fat Bottomed Girls In The Lap Of The Gods Seven Seas Of Rhye Killer Queen Somebody To Love Teo Toriatte (B&R w/Adam coming in at the end - Japan not Korea - POSSIBLE that it's just B&R so Adam doesn't have to learn ANOTHER new song or just to give him a break in the set) Under Pressure Love Kills Last Horizon TYMD (Brian on first verse) Ga Ga Crazy Show Must Go On Bo Rap
I Was Born To Love You WWRY/WATC
ALTHOUGH this is much tougher to do than a full set especially if you are adding 1-2 songs. Love Of My Life is a tough omission and they might want to do the Freddie singing bit at the end especially in front of a festival audience. Since they've been cutting Show Must Go On more, I'd bet that in a festival setting, they let it go especially since Adam doesn't get the kind of rest mid set as he'd been getting. I also think they may want to get Love Kills back in there for promotional reasons...

OMG, Talon thank you so much for this. Because of this journey, and your generous input I understand and LOVE the greatness of Queen. I want so much for Adam to do his own music too, but I hope he continues to work with Queen , in whatever form it takes, so that you will stay here with us to continue sharing with us your knowledge of all things Queen. Thank you, my friend. :D No problem at all! Like I've said I'm glad Queen is being so warmly discovered by a new fanbase and anything I can do to help stoke those flames is a pleasure! I am very interested also at this point to see what Adam does next. I'm really hoping to like A3! As much as to not disappoint you guys
