My son told me this morning how excited he is for this show. We are heading to Brussels a week from today to spend precious time with my BFF and her family and of course to see QAL. I hope to meet Atopers at the show. Yes! I hope we will meet too!!

I would really love to meet all of you someday I totally agree...all these amazing recaps make me Happy to hear of all these connections made through concerts this past year. Even though I chose not to attend a 2016 gig---for one reason or another, maybe someday I will get back to the surprising people experiences ---the connecting and bonding that I experienced in the past. Adam has pulled things out of me...opening my eyes, heart, mind to life experiences, and experiences that are life. Ie what makes us common. ...funny how traveling alone, or travelling for 10 days with an Atopper who had travelled to a few concerts with another Atopper I met at a pre concert dinner, who happened to be an acquaintance of a friend...WHO DOES THAT. ..seems NOT JUST ME . THEN there is always the chance to meeting up with new people/past acquaintances upon arrival. OR having people stay in my home for a concert whom I had never met. It all seemed rather crazy to me in the beginning, and certainly out of my wheelhouse. And for sure my family thought I was nuts. ---Met a crazy fan with a bizarre story while sitting with momtomany in the lobby of a hotel in Vancouver. She was staying in a room with 3 others she did not know. All I can say is she was NOT from Adamtopia. Haha I have been joyously lucky so far in meeting wonderful Atopers. Well, is that bizarre? I guess it is! I connected with another Atoper one day to share a hotel room, all agreements were in place and my husband asked me what kind of person this was. I answered that it was probably a fun person. He: Man or woman? Me: ehhh, woman I think? He: what age? Me: I haven't the faintest idea. He: well, what's this person called? Me: um... adoreadam?? I did agree to meet in the hotel lobby first though, because you never know. And of course everything was more than perfectly fine.

Well... I have been thinking about my own question all day. Why does Adam make me happy? And the thing that has been going around in my head over and over again is 'because he does'. As a (semi-)scientist I am used to analyzing everything, and never take a thing for what it is. But the mystery of Adam and what he does to me is impossible to put into thoughts, I think.
I do know that he doesn't only give me joy. He touches me in other ways too. The number of times that tears welled up when listening to him are many. While I normally never cry. He makes me feel fierce, and joyous, and sexy and vulnerable and everything. He just makes me feel. More intensely than I thought was possible.
And most of all I am just very happy that someone like Adam exists. And that he is singing his own songs ánd the songs with one of my all time favorite bands.

skaschep, thank you so much for your recap yesterday! Made me relive the show again, and from a different perspective. I also feel almost embarrassed by all the thank you's. You are welcome! And for everybody who hasn't seen it yet: there is a beautiful recording of the soundcheck in that recap. WWTLF in an empty stadium, radiating out over Cologne... it doesn't get much better than that! adamtopia.com/post/757384/thread

My thought is there are many different kinds of happy and no reason you can't have more than one kind. The beauty of this situation for Adam is exactly that he doesn't have to choose, he gets to have them both which makes them both even better. Yesss! This is exactly right. Isn't it a great day when the topic of conversation is how happy Adam is? With the conclusion that on stage he is indeed very happy!? Now I might have to think about how to put in words why he makes me happy. Anybody want to inspire me with their own story??

Oh, that's an interesting point. Where is Adam the most happy?
What I've seen from Adam is that he was more focussed in his own tour, working a lot harder. Especially at the beginning of the show. Signalling the sound guy, taking care that the choreography looked good. Working to take the audience with him. I heard him soundchecking in Hamburg and I remember he sang at least 7 songs. I had the impression that he let go at the end, if he knew it had been a good show. And especially at the end of the tour, when he knew it had been a good tour. Yes, I saw him happy on stage, very happy, but I saw him angry too. I think that the intensity of having your own tour and being responsible for that and the happiness that you are indeed pulling it off balance things out.
In the Queen shows I have seen Adam being much more relaxed. His bed is made, all he has to do is jump up and down on it. Yes, he has to do it right, but the audiences are in it from the start. He has got (most of) the die hard Queen fans, he knows it. The Queen production is very professional and it's mostly the same team who have been doing it for ages. Brian and Roger and the other guys are brilliant. And he gets to be absolutely ridiculous and glammed up. The sheer joy on that stage is like nothing I've ever felt. It's a less intense kind of happiness, but it is there and for me it feels like a warm sun (yeah, even in the cold Cologne rain)

Sooo.... I did write some more about my experience in Cologne, because I just wanted to remember every little thing. I was going to keep it to myself, as a souvenir, but at the gentle insistence of one of our most esteemed members here I decided to put it on today's thread. If you want to read part 1, that's here adamtopia.com/post/757097/threadCologne QAL - part 2 The behind the scenes footage at the opening is awesome! Especially when you are right under one of the screens and that badass rocker is walking right towards you. It was such a shock to suddenly see Adam standing in front of me on the side stairs. I was waiting for the curtain to open and then he appeared out of nowhere. I completely missed the curtain opening after that and I needed the vids to find out what happened. Who watches a curtain when Adam is there? When I returned to my seat I had to go outside of the stadium for a moment. It was the most amazing feeling ever when I got in again. Back into the magic, like stepping into a brilliant warm sea of light and music and happy people. During the end of WWTLF it was as if Adam was standing in a storm of light. Everything rotating with the intensity of his singing. It was amazing to see the rain falling down through the lasers and the lights. I tried to take some pictures of it, but they don't capture that brilliance. Adam with an umbrella was just priceless. It is an umbrella from the venue, so he may have requisitioned it from a security guard. I just loved him twirling with it. I also hoped that we would see him soaking wet, but I knew beforehand that he wouldn't let that happen. His hair, you know. I have to check it, but I think all the songs where he ventured out in the rain were followed by a break to get his hair in order again. It only threatened to come down once. Glitter from the show was everywhere, on people's faces, at the tram stop, in the hotel garage, at the central station. Even the next day it was obvious in Cologne that Queen happened. The reviews were on many front pages of regional newspapers the next day. And they were glowing! We bought one of every edition :-). The day after I was SO exhausted that I couldn't even get into Cologne to see the city. I just sat down on a terrace near the Kölner Dom, in the company of Atop friends. The best possible way to spend the 'day after'. augenpoesie , it was superb to finally meet you! On that same terrace there were more people who had been at the show, one guy who kept on raving about Adam and that 'he was going to marry him and have his babies'. About how he couldn't pass up on the opportunity to see an Adam Lambert show.... with "the Queens".

Nine posts on the daily thread and it is almost 10 am. And no new news from/about Adam. I am starting to experience withdrawal symptoms, and it is four whole days before another concert day. What am I going to do?!? I am actually contemplating binge-watching season 8 of Idol to see how it began. I am working on part 2 of my Cologne recap . But real life keeps interfering. Might have something to fill the pages up a bit later tonight.
