I feel Adam's voice resonating inside me--whether it is sympathetic vibration, harmonics, I'm not an expert. But I know I feel it and I can't listen or watch him without having a physical reaction usually exemplified by a lasting smile (goofy grin) on my face (hmm, where else would a grin be? My eloquence abounds!). Adam makes me feel and I feel better for it. Linda - there you are in my head again and expressing my thoughts. Of course, you know I agree with you. I do not have a background in music - but I know what I like - and what makes me happy! And Adam (his voice being part of it) makes me happy, smile and feel - sometimes the raw "sad" emotions of life - but always at the end - a wink and a smile - a reassurance that life does go on and it really isn't that deep! It isn't just the voice, but the whole package. I probably would have dismissed the voice if only casually hearing it on the radio, but Idol brought more than the voice to my consciousness and made me want to learn more and listen more. And WOW, I am so glad I did.

This is a wonderful article! I read Adam in every point the author makes. Two quotes stood out to me: "Let’s assume for a moment that charisma is the real stuff, less a means than an end in itself. What we generally consider the “content” of the arts — the notes, the libretto, the bowings, the plot — is actually just the structure that makes possible the crucial thing: watching a performer who is able to connect with fundamental realities. It is not that a singer’s charisma makes a colorful aria sound even better but that the aria provides a platform, a vessel, for us to experience the charisma." This is part of the reason we say that Adam transcends the material he performs. It is not just the technique, not just the natural voice he has, but also the charisma that we experience when we see/hear him perform. "The question is whether people want to be swept up. Charisma can be exhilarating but also frightening. Our surrender to it demands a trust that is not easily conceded. If our desire from performance is only for comfort and reassurance, charisma will repel us. It is about revealing scope, and it raises the stakes dangerously high" The second quote is probably the best explanation of why Adam did not win American Idol, and why Kris did. I, too, thought of Adam in this article, and thanks Susie Fierce for sharing and Cassie for your comments. Agree completely with you both, the article and how Adam is reflected in it.

I am starting to think that the PC vs Mac thing is like Miracle Whip vs Mayonase (Hellmans in my case!). It seems to be just one of those intrinsic differences Personally, I think Miracle Whip was invented by Satan as a toture device! My next door neighbor wouldn't dream of buying anything other than Miracle Whip. She seems to be a nice person despite this deep flaw in her personality PJD - you really drew me in with all your computer knowledge, going down a familiar path with me, BUT THEN you had to go and like Mayonnaise over Miracle Whip? Oh my, you have opened a whole new area of discussion. Let's see a tie in to Adam - I wonder which he prefers?

Just a reminder for anyone desiring a tattoo, Wylie Perry works weekends Count me in - I've been missing you ladies - It seems like years since we had our Adam viewing party. If there is room at the inn, I am there. Calendar is marked. What great fun to have Sandysva there as well. Hope more will join us! And you know I am ready for my tattoo! Starting reading this thread from the back forward, so will now go read what set this off. If it was a casual lunch that brought this about, imagine what a full course weekend will produce. Be scared, be very scared.... Totally OT, but just got back from seeing "The Help" - Awesome movie about some very awesome and brave ladies. A must see!!
