Just wanted everyone know that a Queen thread has been created in the art and music recommendations section of this forum. Thanks Q3 and Tinafea. adamtopia.com/index.cgi?action=display&board=recommendations&thread=996&page=1The idea is to post and archive information and provide a location for more in depth discussion about Queen related topics, especially when it gets lengthy or is outside the topics of the day for the news thread. Also to find the previous information back, when needed at a later time. I have copied some information and links provided over the last few days into that thread to get it started and want to thank especially Talon and Rabbitrabbit for their mega contributions. Feel free to bring other goodies along and/or ask questions you may have, it looks like we have quite a few very knowledgeable long time Queen fans on this board and many others who are discovering more of their music. I presume in the next few days with Queen+AL concerts happening, Queen discussion will be ongoing in AdamNews as it typically would on this forum, but if you have something about Queen that you would like to retain or discuss beyond the immediate news cycle, we now have a home for it.

I like the show America's Best Dance Crew. They have a former contestant as a judge and it brings a very cool perspective to the show. I'm also reminded of Inside the Actor's Studio. The host was asked if there was a celebrity that he wanted to interview and hadn't been able to yet. He said that the one celebrity that he wanted to interview was whichever of their graduates became successful enough to warrant an interview. He finally got his wish with Bradley Cooper. There is something about "look what we found and look at how far he has come" about having a contestant become a judge. Also, Adam has always been clear that he was happy he made top 10 so that he would have a gig for the summer. He mentioned that the gig with Queen is a "sure thing." I really get the sense that he is aware of how hard he has to work to get certain opportunities. A gig judging on AI would be a fat paycheck and it would increase his visibility. I know he would be amazing as a judge and it would give so many people a chance to "know" him. I agree with you here! I think if they changed the judging model and had a former contestant who made top two it would provide a unique insight to what the Idols need to do during the season. Like a judge/mentor perspective. For example "If you don't like the styling they're giving you, you need to speak up because when you get off Idol nobody is going to baby you like they do here" or "you didn't take advantage of your mentor this week and you need to listen to them and take risks to not blend into the background" or whatever. The critiques would be alot more meaningful than a Steven Tyler making stupid bland comments "thank you for that experience" ...because they wouldn't be able to dismiss Adam's critiques as "oh he's just some famous guy who doesn't know how HARD this is" LOL.

Spent the last hour or so thinking about if this Idol thing could really happen. And whether this is more than a rumor. I've been trying to figure out 1) Is Adam big enough 2) Why would Idol want him? Of course, the obvious answers came first: He is Articuate Outspoken Charming A trained vocalist that can give good critiques Charistmatic Gorgeous Easy to work with Part of the Idol family It was obvious how much the Idol audience loved him when he performed this year. I'm sure TPTB took note. Then I thought about something Slezak said. And for Idol, this may be the biggest thing Adam has going for him. He is gay. Idol has been severely criticized for keeping their gay contestants "under raps" and in previous years, the gay banter between Ryan and Simon. But the past year has brought the most crriticism due to the openly gay contestants on The Voice that are celebrated. Having an out & proud gay judge would silence those critics.I dunno. Just some thoughts. I have come to the conclusion that if Adam wants this, it is going to happen! Idol has already had an out and proud judge. Ellen DeGeneres was out and proud and married to a woman when she was an Idol judge. I recognize, however, that gay men have always faced more scorn and ridicule than gay women. I think it's a misogynist thing--gay men are perceived as being feminine, which is viewed as a weakness in our society. It's like--you expect the pauper to aspire to be a prince, but you don't expect the prince to aspire to be a pauper. I think that gay men are seen as taking a step backward in a way that gay women are not.Well men in society consider gay men tarnished with the ick factor, while lesbians are a turn on for them. So yeah, misogynist fantasy entertainment and complete lack of empathy and understanding of gay men. The mocking also comes in alot with women who, for some reason think gay men are fair game, like you said, that they are somehow weak and inferior. Those women obviously have never had their hair pulled out at the roots on the ferry to Fire Island sitting too close to a lovers quarrel that got out of control [like me] hahaha.

I made the mistake of reading the comments on some of these sites about the Idol judge thing, and trying to put in my two cents about how great Adam is. The hate is unbelievable and unjust. Do you think they are jealous of his many talents, beauty and charisma? I don't really get it. I had to run back here where people are sane! You can read any article on the internet about even non-controversial subjects, and the comments will contain hate. It is amazing to me that there are so many people who are hateful and/or unhappy. Or ignorant. I usually don't read comments for that reason. And when I do, I usually regret it! What really worries me is - What would those hate filled people do if they didn't have the internet to spew their venom ? Scary....the hate and misery in them would just build and build till it exploded into violence ???
