I'll leave the squee to the professionals but will say Adam completely (at least in the moment) won over the scrum of hard core Queen fans I buried myself in. At the beginning they were happy but by barefoot Adam, they were seriously swooning (for big older guys with buzz cuts - well actually for 12 yr old girls too). It was a wonder to behold. I passed Neil and Eber chatting peacefully in their seats but then the pack spied them and would not be deterred - I fled. There was much much love for Mr. Lambert and very interesting to be in such a different crowd. For instance, they clap in time  - the love was running a mobius strip from stage to audience at the end. It was a lovely sight to behold. |

Adam was so sweet and at the end kept trying to focus the attention on Queen & they kept trying to focus it on him and then Roger hugged
Adam and I died I really really died in the sweetness of that moment.
At the end they came out on the catwalk and Brian & Roger were standing and Adam was kneeling in front of them & it was ssbfvjsavahekagsjagh
SO many Queen fans in the audience more & more enthused as the show went on. Fist pumping & singing along & grinning ear to ear :'D

I remember you noted in your comments about the Kiev show that Adam was very good but not a home run. The most problematic song was TSMGO as he was uncharacteristically under pitch maybe due to sound issues. I noticed it also in Poland though not as obvious. I also thought he sounded a bit strained. Have to go back and listen to Moscow but it didn't strike me the same way. He was of course still great and he is quick to fix and compensate but I think with another show tomorrow night, if it was an intentional move to rest him, it was a good call. I really liked it in that intimate moment of Roger and the fans and if it has special meaning for them, it was the right thing to do. Oh absolutely, I mean it's a DIFFICULT song to sing. No doubt so a rest might be good. And yes it is VERY special to Queen fans. I might have said this elsewhere (and it's mentioned in the bio in the Queen thread) but Brian told the story and I'll paraphrase: 'I heard this little run by Rog and John and I started writing lyrics with Freddie. We never talked about it but we both knew. I even asked him if he would be okay singing some of these lyrics. He looked up, smiled and said, "I will give it my all, dear". And then later Freddie was very sickly and could barely stand at times. So he'd give it a try and it wasn't good enough for him, so he propped himself up on the mixing desk as he was too tired to really stand, downed a few vodkas, and really let it rip and it was quite possibly the best vocal he'd put down on a Queen track" So yeah, it definitely has a lot of meaning to Queen fans and to Brian especially. :'(Wow, that was a very touching story/memory. I am now extremely thankful Brian and the fans sang this song together. Also, thank you for your recap, nice to hear from you that Adam is finding his footing. Maybe they will someday come to the US :D |
