Surprised no traffic here this morning. Didn't watch laast night & wanted your recaps :D But the REAL news was the Red Carpet! Everyone posted in the daily news thread. You have to read the 57 pages to find the posts. Haley and Tony were the highlight of the night for me. A few people posted that singing with an old jazz crooner did not help Haley's possible future career. I totally disagree. She sounded awesome and proved that she can sing anything and sing it well. Adam sang with KISS and Queen. Not exactly current artists. I don't think that hurt his career. The AI viewers are from all age groups. To me her vocal abilities and stage presence certainly should not have turned anyone off. If you are a fan of the woman, her performance confirmed why. If you are not a fan, in the AI internet bubble the crays will of course bash her. I watched with a friend who is 20 years younger than me and even though she didn't know the song and had only heard Tony's name thought it was the best of the night. Win win in my opinion. I also loved the guys with Tom Jones. They made it tastefully cheesy and Tom showed the world that even though you're 71 years old, if you have a natural talent and can actually sing, you can have unquestionable longevity. My nieces and nephews (age 11 to 14) have all kinds of music on their ipods - yes even Tony Bennett. If you love good music, you love good music. Pretty plain and simple. People who limit themselves to what is on the Z100's of the radio world put their musical tastes in a box and just follow the masses. I have a tired old saying that if all you feed people is hot dogs, they will love hot dogs. True music lovers search for the filet mignon and lobster. They are open to all genres and ages. I actually feel sorry for the "music tastes in a box" people because they are missing out on some really great artists and music. Lady GagMe, on the other hand, kind of turned my stomach. Yes she is a talented woman, but I don't get the fact that today's artists believe that they have to top their last OTT stage antics to be successful. If she did a performance just proving her vocal talent without all the "Look how outragous I can be crap" I would actually respect her and even possibly buy her music. Her mentoring segment was ridiculous. Did she have to show up looking like a bad imitation of Gene Simmons. Did she have to prove her outragousness by grabbing and but humping James? Did anyone besides Haley (who she actually gave good advice to) do anything she said they should do? Nuff said. Adam's performances on his tour were sometimes OTT, but he mixed it up with Soaked and Aftermath and Broken Open, etc. to show that he can sing better than possibly anyone out there today. I don't think he felt the need to hide behind how outragous he could be. I think he did that for his AMA performance. Even though I truly believe in his not apologizing for it, I think that experience taught him that talent overrides that kind of performance in the long run. Dancers and special effects can be awesome in a concert, but an actually talented artist knows how much their fans want of that kind of thing and mixes the show up accordingly. Adam did that. I personally think he overdid the rock wail on AI, although he is one of the few people who can do that on pitch and perfectly. He did not over do that on the studio recordings. I think he did that live to make himself stand out and it impressed a lot of people, but also turned a lot of people off. I respect the fact that I think he learned from that and decided to show off his voice and not make those wails his trademark. I know that they are considered musical geniuses, but I cannot listen to most Led Zepplin's songs because IMO Robert Plant's continual screaming is not pleasant to my ears. I'll get off my soapbox now, but that's my opinion and I'm sticking to it.

I'm not necessarily a HUGE Gaga fan, but JD comes off as an arrogant, know-it-all A**hole imo.

Now that the media knows that he is a loose cannon, they will forever bait him just to see what comes out of his mouth. I am certain that the opinion that James voiced about Gaga is something that he has said among friends many times. He hasn't yet realized how his situation has changed and he will need to be more careful about the things he says.

Can you image if Adam said that about Gaga?! Every media outlet would pick up on that with big headline on it.
I know don't see any buzz on what JD said about Gaga I guess nobody cares 'cuz he's nobody!
Q Mys*&@^#r, what was the highlight of the show for you? And how was the audience react to JD song w/Judas?

I'm gonna be very unpopular today. I just gave James a standing O. If Adam said that about GagMe, I would give him a standing O. If anyone famous said that about GagMe, I would give them a standing O. I don't really like James, but why is speaking his mind about someone who is currently famous a bad thing? So what. Headlines - "ames just bashed superstar". Big fucking deal. Take a poll. I bet you would get an amazingly large amount of people who feel the same way. I would love to see the woman wearing normal clothes and singing a song, as I said above. If she did that well, I might become a fan. I don't personally know a single person who likes her outragous stage schtick. I'll bring up the 20 years younger than me friend again. She recently went to a GagMe concert (because she and her friends like GagMe's songs on the radio). She and three of her friends walked out after a few songs. I'm not a prude and they're not prudes. Quite the opposite. For some people (including James), she is offensive and not entertaining at all. Is his stating his opinion going to hurt his possible career? I'll go one step further, while I'm at it. I cringe every time Adam praises the woman. His personal taste doesn't really matter to me on a personal level, I just really dislike her antics that much. Yep, she got everyone's attention. I have a hard time thinking that said attention is going to give her a long lasting career. 15 minutes of ridiculous fame.

I spent her entire "I'm up on a rock" time going "I don't understand, what is this supposed to mean, sounds terrible, looks worse, liked zipper eye back in Season 8 better, what the hell is she singing about ". I compare James diss of her to Adam's diss of Susan Boyles. As Adam said then, he's entitled to an opinion. Dissin' on Gaga's not going to do James any harm in the metal world either.

sugaree - it's really not so much what he said about Gaga. Yeah he was just being honest but IMO it was pretty dumb. He has a perfect right to his opinion but it wasn't too smart to yak about it in public when he's brand spanking new in the business.
And, as I said, it really wasn't what he said about Gaga that annoyed me (I'm not her biggest fan). He just kept on pontificating as though what he has to say is really important and the ultimate truth. Sort of reminded me of Gokey in S8.

Did your young friend and her young friends not know what to expect? Have they not seen any of Lady Gaga's performances on TV or watched her videos? If not, they bought awfully expensive tickets and waisted a ton of money going to a concert where you should know what you are getting. I've been to one of Gaga's sold-out arena concerts and I didn't see people leaving, although I'm sure that happens at everyone's concert. I've even read about people leaving Adam's concerts. That doesn't bother me and neither does a few people leaving a Gaga concert. Those people waisted their own money, not mine! ;D Plus, it just gives me more room to move and dance!! ;D Her 15 minutes of fame are no more "up" than Adam's 15 minutes of fame that I keep hearing about at other boards. James: He is an idiot. Does he think Gaga's concerts are for the Disney crowd? Has he ever been to a metal concert before? Has he watched videos from Metal bands or 80's Hair bands? Does he realize that those guys cuss, drink, do drugs, engage in unsafe sex with 100s of groupies, etc? Does he realize he was dressed as a member of the Village People last night as he was singing a song about sodomy? lol

Thanks for your opinions guys. I just ran a few errands and thought about the whole thing. I'm letting GaGa rent too much space in my head and she doesn't deserve to be there. Sorry for the negativity, but I still stand by my words, but they are JMHO. Jazz, I see what you mean about pontificating. I really really disliked Gokey. He made my hair stand up. Rubbed me the wrong way. I do not have that reaction to James. I sort of rooted for him in the beginning because he was overcoming his disabilities and living his dream. Once I realized the man could not sing, I didn't care either way. Now for another unpopular opinion. I've been involved in the internet Idol bubble for quite a few years and still do not get the fan hatred of another contestant who speaks negatively about my favorite. An example would be that Michael Johns' semi negative comment about Adam would not and has not stopped me from buying MJ's music. If I like it, I'll buy it. He's entitled to his opinion. Why the "Adam showed him. Adam had a solo tour and MJ did not. crap" When the press asks an artist about another artist, are they supposed to always express love and admiration? However, James could have just given a "no comment" type of answer which would have conveyed his message in a classier way. Anywaaaaaay, Haley and Tony kicked ass! Jablea, it's so nice to see you. You haven't been around much lately. Hope to see you more often. I haven't posted much lately either, but I'm still here. I'll leave on this positive note. youtu.be/yVPxJUXbbno
