I'm not a huge fan of the band but it's kind of unfair to compare them to freakin' QUEEN, doncha think?
That's what I was thinkin'.....dear god guys. QUEEN. LOL!! C'mon!!

It is great to hear A singing his own music again... I do miss the sheer biggness of the sound from Queen shows and they have pretty much same number of musicians on stage plus back up singers so no reason they couldn't beef it up as appropriate. Of course music style is quite different but I also miss Dr Bri weaving his guitar magic - not so much the rock bits but the way he would weave it to the melody really bought the music to life. Queen is known for their "wall of sound".....so, can't compare. I do wish Tommy's guitar was more front and center. I like a lead guitar, I consider it as another vocalist. I want to like Tommy as the lead but he hasn't grabbed me yet -- maybe cuz I just can't seen to hear him. I wonder what the industry spin in on him as a lead? Has anyone ever critiqued the band? eta: soooooo happy to have Adam back Stateside and singing his own stuff.....just needed to add that! The way I see it is: A prominent guitar is rock and that's not what Adam wants in these songs he want's a rock subtlety/influence . That's one reason why I feel the divas are critical to fill out the lack of a heavy backing track and layers that we hear on the album. I thought I heard a vocal backing track in places but wasn't really focused or caring enough to "catch it" last night. So your rock people are going to want more guitar and your pop people are going to want more "depth" of what they hear on the album IMO. But on the computer I don't see how we're going to hear all that except for a QUEEN show where the songs are ROCK. An example is Sleepwalker, nobody was really complaining because it lends itself to a rock interpretation even though it has all kinds of stuff on the album like an oboe. When I first went on the stream the guitar was VERY audible and at first I thought it was something they were doing new. But it was the location of the streamer. Not having been to a Trespassing show in PERSON, I wouldn't guess what it sounds like there but I"m sure it depends on the venue, if it's outside or inside etc. I can never hear Ashleigh but heard both the guitar and bass better in the RAH than in outside shows here. That being said, one noticeable difference to ME is the drummers, where I totally hear Rick MUCH more than Isaac but Rick is a monster and also let the cow bell HAVE IT! LOL I wouldn't expect any sort of Queen type guitar or any instrument vibe actually, because of the songs not even to mention the fact of Queen being a 40 year expensive oiled machine. Even Shady on the album I thought didn't showcase Nile like I expected, he's not "front" and center as a Queen song imo. AND he's playing it up really high on the neck of the guitar, which, I don't know the term for in guitar lingo haha. There's a part on the Nile Rogers videos where he's discussing that with his sound guy if he should stay up there or drop it further down the "frets?". Not sure if that's the right term but it results in a way different sound That was one reason I was hoping for a Chokehold with Queen because I thought that song lent itself to Brian's guitar style and interpretation. Not the only one but one of them. I admit to not "analyzing" all this on these little videos but that's my take from watching hundreds of them since Idol tour. There's also a live show tempo thing that's another matter altogether like with Shady which is sounding more pop-y to me than funk, and ONE area that I think Adam could slow down to really let the new concert goers enjoy the fusion of funk in that song. But again, I might be wrong about that not being there in person. Compared to the Trespassing songs I thought Fever was slightly below the right tempo but they oughta know having done that song ALOT lol.

Ok those back up singers have got to stop ruining Naked Love. ARGH. Every damn time their harmonies (well actually is just one of them) are sharp - and not in a good way! Interested if others hear it or am I imagining things? Is it safe to say anything less than glowing about the Vajayjays here? I like the IDEA of live backing singers, but, there are consistent pitch problems that interfere with my enjoyment of the songs. It is jarring to hear. Don't know the solution, as having live singers is a definite asset when it comes to Adam having more freedom, but......

I don't know about any "rules" about whats safe to say or not but I'd think that people that are at the shows can say if the girls are ruining the songs in person. Because it seems to me Adam would NOT be having any of that repeatedly in front of thousands of people. They are professional singers doing vocals in studios for other singers so I don't know how they can personally be that bad live, especially on every song.

It's not jarring to me cause I guess not being a music expert I have no problem with their backing. I saw and heard a great concert last night - on video - and I loved it. In fact, I never thought all that much about PTL until I saw Adam's sexy dancey self and the VJJ's having so much fun with it. Now I love it. And I love the divas. Gratifying to hear that the fans who were actually there thought it was great. Glad I don't have the burden of hearing every off or displeasing note. It's all fun and exciting for this easy-to-please fan. 8-) wonder if the VJJ's read the boards to hear how horrible they were. :-/
