Hahaha!!! *shakes fist* Damn you, Pink Dot, Whole Foods and pizza delivery guy (you too, Freshology)!!!! Damn you modern technology and conveniences. We want PHOTOS!!! Ha, ha! I was just being silly, but in the back of my mind, I was remembering those photos of them on Franklin walking by the Bourgeois (sp?) Pig. It's a slow news day. Actually 2 slow news days in a row. I mean we amused ourselves all day yesterday with Blue photos thinking about a party that it appears Adam didn't even go to! LOL, IKR? Ah well, the same way Adam can elicit drama by tying his shoes, we can create a day of flail out of a theoretical appearance. He scorned us at Oscar parties too, yet tossed us a red herring (erm, burrito ...) as a distraction. C'mon, Adam, one random food tweet and we'll all play nicely in the corner while you an the BF have your reunion. Eh well, I've got to get out and go shopping anyway ...

RCA Ed's comment: For the first time I think those are not RCA Ed's words. To me they seem canned, as if they came from an executive level above and then were composed by the Publicity Dept. I'm reading into it that Adam and his people would like to make peace with ABC. That is my take. www.adamofficial.com/us/node/1966509I was a little surprised that Ed could make a statement about Adam and it actually sound professional without any snappy snarky comments also. It wasn't the lack of snark that made me think those weren't Ed's words. It was the announcement of such an important position. It seems to me that Ed is being used to send the message to the fans that twibbon boycotting campaigns and the such are more harmful than good.

quote author=alohapf board=daily thread=106 post=24306 time=1301221440] NoAngel---- I have no problem with people learning as they go along, educating themselves on new issues, and acting in whatever way feels right to them. A few quiet words at the lunch table can be just as powerful as picketing on Capitol Hill. And it is okay if your fandom expands your worldview and your compassion, as well as your righteous outrage. Since forever, it has been often been the “ordinary” folks who initiate social change. People who would have been content to just live their lives until something became too horrible to tolerate; until someone they loved was hurt; until they : could no longer look ....]
Great things are often accomplished by small means... Some bring attention to causes by making grand gestures; others bring attention to causes by living and reflecting their messages. Both are necessary and powerful. Both are most powerfully effective when the motivation comes from a sincere place that seeks no personal glory.
My mother has never been what I would strictly call an "activist," but she always seeks out, enjoys and honestly celebrates the differences in people. And she always immediately stops conversations that do otherwise. My mother, in her eighties, recently visited a neighbor's home for dinner when their conversation suddenly turned discriminatory. After trying to stop the remarks twice, she finally said, "I love you, but I will have to leave your home if you continue to talk that way about other people who deserve to be loved and respected just as much as you do." The hosts apologized and the dinner went on.
Some speak out stridently and are widely visible, and that is powerful and important. My mother taught me that quietly speaking out with love, on an individual level, is also powerful and important. As Adam says, love overcomes hate. Anyone who lives this principle helps activate change.
There is a season for all kinds of activism, and there are seasons when life provides different experiences to help us grow and evolve in various ways. There are some seasons when people need to spend most or all their activist hours just organizing change and love in their own lives before they have the time and/or tools to address change in the world around them. We are all continuously evolving and changing and learning as life happens.
I don't understand those who scorn when or how someone finds more knowledge and light once they have found it and are ready to act on it.
I am thankful for everyone who shows up at the tree ready to help pass out the fruit. Great essay, NoAngel, as always!

On another note, interesting and so smart, that Adam mentions way back in that article that talking about his private life might suffocate something good. Good for him that even then he was already figuring out a strategy for how to give love as a celebrity its best chance. What a great story about your mother, Lynne! It reminds me of one of my favorite quotes, the closing paragraph of Middlemarch:

This is the one I was thinking of. He says "Dead in the Water" starts at 5:30 I love this interview. It was fun to watch it again, and interesting in light of the Take One discussion.

Forgot to add my last quote. Thank you Mary Sue for liking the quotes. They are somewhat old, but still fit. I have nothing to hide. I am who I am . Cassie, thanks for the info about Raja on the radio show. That is one I might be interested in. That is an area I am learning more about. I never realized how much work and talent goes into a real drag queen career and show.
