I saw on MJs someone posted that there's a video with Adam that only media has access to it? Did anybody hear about this? The video is old news -- from when Adam returned thru LAX. Pap video that no one has purchased.

Wonder if Reyna has had a dye job? Everyone else but Brian seems to have spent some time at the hairdressers.

“I think it was a mistake releasing the song before she got on 'Idol',” says Carolina Bermudez, who just left radio station Z100 to join CBS' "The Couch." “If radio isn’t playing it, then that’s a problem.”That means even if Adam is going to get the Idol job, lots of other promos have to be done for the next single, and we haven't heard about them yet. I wish Adam will be performing the new single on the VMAs, the Do Something awards, will be interviewed and perform on may other shows. Mariah's album comes out in March 2013 -- lots of time and more singles. But Idol/X-Factor/Voice judge slot no guarantee of radio airplay. LMAO at that Bermudez comment!! So the single artist with the record for most No. 1 songs in history now has to rely on Idol to get radio play? INTERESTING!!!Wow, I guess there are no guarantees. And people questioned if Idol judgeship would be a good thing?? Yes, I get your point, Q3, that judgeship is no guarantee, but the thing is that these kind of jobs puts people at the center of pop culture coverage. It comes from all sides once they're there. They are covered on every entertainment show, blog, talk show, you name it. I know I've made this analogy before, but our pop culture is permeated by people who technically should NOT be all that high profile. Cable TV reality shows have a very small audience, comparatively speaking, but for some reason, every checkout aisle magazine cover, morning show, late night talk, drive-time radio, etc. feels compelled to talk about Kardashians, Jersey Shore, etc. And suddenly, they're HUGE stars. Why? Because they've permeated pop culture. It's fleeting, yes, but it's huge exposure. And if you have a body of work, talent and product to back it up, the exposure is INSANE!!

www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/08/09/mariah-carey-triumphant_n_1760994.htmlSpeaking of singles, and Idol judges, apparently Mariah's new single, out only a few days, has already been judged a failure per this article in Huffington Post. Apparently, radio will not play a song until it hits the Top 10 on iTunes - and it better make Top 10 as soon as it's released. This makes me concerned for the release of the next Adam single, and is why I asked about the problem of iTunes sales for songs already purchased on an album. I still think a "PLL remix" would help. I don't know when or if they fixed it, but I couldn't even preview or DL Mariah's single last Tuesday. It kept saying unavailable in the US on both i-Tunes and Amazon. But that aside, it's a bad song. It features Mariah and in no way showcases her. The remix does though but that is not the one on i-Tunes.

Here is my dream--that Adam will get the AI job (I've been feeling good about this). Then, Queen will be mentors on a "Queen" week during the season and Adam + Queen will sing a couple of songs and blow everyone away. Then Adam goes on an epic tour in the summer with some Queen dates mixed in.

Comparisons are something I can't resist. Gotye has had one of the biggest POP hits of the last year, and one of the most viewed youtube videos ever. You would think that would translate to sold out concerts. Well, I just got an offer of half-off tickets ($20 down from $40) for his concert in Chicago at a 7500 seater. Yes, I know Adam didn't have complete sell-outs at his most recent gigs, but he hasn't had the radio play that Gotye has had in the past year. All I'm saying is that radio play doesn't automatically make you a big concert attraction. On the other hand, Gotye wouldn't be touring the US if his single hadn't been pumped out over the airwaves so relentlessly. Yes, I completely agree with you on a couple of things: 1. iTunes placement is hugely important for radio, this is also the impression I and other people on twitter have been getting, especially recently. There was talk on twitter that when RCA releases the next Adam single to iTunes in the US, it'll be a good idea to do a campaign similar to the UK one, to push the single as far up on iTunes as possible, and hold it for a couple of days there. We won't be able to get it and hold it at #1, but at least give it a fighting chance. 2. I also completely agree that radio play does not equal concert draw. I actually think this is one of Adam's biggest advantages as an artist: that he is an incredibly compelling live act. The fact that he's been drawing the crowds that he's been drawing in the past couple of months, with NO radio play basically, and 3 years after being on Idol, is a really good sign. Imagine what he could do with one hit single! I think RCA sees the writing on the wall, and this is why they are pushing the tour until they hopefully get a hit single (or he gets on AI, hehe). If all goes well, he could tour in arenas, which would be a significant source of income. The money in the music industry is in touring and merchandising more and more now, and less in traditional music sales (b/c of pirating, online streaming, etc). So I'm hopeful. Agree with the radio play versus concert draw. With the amount of radio play Kelly Clarkson gets and huge smash Stronger, I would have thought she could sell out huge arenas like Carrie Underwood. But I saw a recent box score for a show with Matt Nathanson where it was only 42% attendance of a venue of 6,833 capacity in Albany, NY. Here was Adam in OK who sold out or nearly sold out his venue (I know it was smaller) but he did that without anyone else on the ticket and with no radio play. Also surprised Gavin McGraw isn't a huge concert draw.
