Here is my dream--that Adam will get the AI job (I've been feeling good about this). Then, Queen will be mentors on a "Queen" week during the season and Adam + Queen will sing a couple of songs and blow everyone away. Then Adam goes on an epic tour in the summer with some Queen dates mixed in. My dream for Idol performances is that Adam gets to perform with Pharrell or Nile. Adam 's own music. He can perform with Queen on Idol after he 1) Does his own single 2) Premieres a new video ;D Then the finale would be a good time to have Queen and Adam perform! |

Hmm, why would Adam be busy only in September? If it's Idol, wouldn't he be busy for more than just September? Don't get me wrong, you guys know I wanted him to get picked from the very beginning. All appendages crossed! ETA... I agree with mys*&@^#r too...gotta have his work in there too ;D |

Though it's hard to tell from the TV editing, it seems that the judges callbacks are only a couple of days in each city. How many cities do they do? Four or five? They do that many weeks of audition shows in January. If they do one callback city a week and spend two/three days there, he might be busy in September and part of October, but still only a few days a week. |

Mariah's album comes out in March 2013 -- lots of time and more singles. But Idol/X-Factor/Voice judge slot no guarantee of radio airplay. LMAO at that Bermudez comment!! So the single artist with the record for most No. 1 songs in history now has to rely on Idol to get radio play? INTERESTING!!!Wow, I guess there are no guarantees. And people questioned if Idol judgeship would be a good thing?? Yes, I get your point, Q3, that judgeship is no guarantee, but the thing is that these kind of jobs puts people at the center of pop culture coverage. It comes from all sides once they're there. They are covered on every entertainment show, blog, talk show, you name it. I know I've made this analogy before, but our pop culture is permeated by people who technically should NOT be all that high profile. Cable TV reality shows have a very small audience, comparatively speaking, but for some reason, every checkout aisle magazine cover, morning show, late night talk, drive-time radio, etc. feels compelled to talk about Kardashians, Jersey Shore, etc. And suddenly, they're HUGE stars. Why? Because they've permeated pop culture. It's fleeting, yes, but it's huge exposure. And if you have a body of work, talent and product to back it up, the exposure is INSANE!! ITA There is no substitute for the exposure that Idol gives an artist or a judge. But just getting named a judge, like Mariah was, will not take a single from 0 to hit -- particularly when there is no there, there. That single is not much of a Mariah song. And she hasn't been on TV on Idol yet. Some judges have gotten a lot of airplay (Adam Levine/Maroon 5) but many have not fared well on radio and with sales even with a high-profile judge slot. Not my opinion, it is a fact. Look at Cee Lo Green or Paula Abdul's failed comeback or Kara attempt to become a recording artist. That said, I agree, normal rules do not apply to Adam Lambert and, with regular exposure to the Idol audience and the associated press, he will be a mega star. With or without radio. |

Yes, they will have about 4 weeks of craziness, in Sept & into Oct, traveling to the audition cities. Then, last year, Hollywood week was in December. That is 4 days straight. Back to work for a week in January or Feb. Live shows start around the first of March. There is plenty of off time for Adam to do one offs, IMO, Nov., Jan. Feb. Actually, even when the show is filming one offs would work. A full blown tour might be more difficult, but maybe not. |
