Hi everyone....my daughter is getting married next weekend and so I have not been posting too much but still keeping up with "all things Adam" here and everywhere.
Early this week (before it gets too wild with last minute wedding preparations), I will update everyone on the 1n10 youth and the plan to get as many youth as possible to Adam's concert at the AZ State Fair in October. Some amazing Adamtopians involved and hoping for others to hop on board. :-) More soon...
Just a note about weddings - great time to get Adam's music out there :-) All the bridesmaids etc at the bachelorette party were gifted a copy of Trespassing and they played the CD all weekend; it was one of the main prizes for the wedding shower games, and...
The bride and groom have selected Cuckoo and Pop That Lock for their wedding song list. They made the decision but asked for my "blessing". There is no song that Adam sings, now or in the future, that would not be wonderful, wonderful!!! So of course!

I have been spending too much time ruminating about Adam's new single, tour, and career in general and why I think something really bog is on the horizon. I know that in May RCA told BB that it planed to release several singles from T, but that was before the two first singles went nowhere in sales or airplay, and the album quickly slid of BB200. Companies change their plans all the time in response to sales data. I remember when RCA Ed explained to fans that it was too costly to release fourth single from FYE. If they didn't want to release another single from a fairly successful album, why on earth would they release one from an album with poor sales? The only answer that makes sense is they are confident that something is going to sharply force the sales curve up. Adam has said that he will tour T when the "time is right". To me that implied when the album sales were good enough to support the kind of tour he wants with mid sized venues and lots of new fans in the audience. Again something big enough to drastically change sales would make sense. A few days ago someone tweeted that Queen was looking for venues for a world tour. Someone tweeted but not with AL this time. I know this one is very flimsy, but if true why would Adam not be included in a tour when Queen obviously loved working with him. Only something very big in Adam's professional life could keep him from a Queen tour. Now things big enough to change the sales trajectory of Trespassing now that it is off the BB200 are limited. Performances on TV talk shows and even cameos on dramas only give small, temporary bumps. Things that have more power are lots a radio play, and perhaps RCA has a firm commitment from Z100, KISS etc to put the new single on super heavy rotation. I can see having a song in a very popular movie as being powerful promo or maybe even an acting role in a popular film. Then of course, there is being a judge on Idol my fingers crossed option. Interesting post and you are quite correct, the promotional plans for artists, including singles, are dynamic. **** RCA has continued to support Adam and Trespassing. No sign of any pull back. RCA's head of marketing said "several singles" and that they planned promotion into 2013 in May AFTER NCOE went for radio adds. At this point Trespassing was not selling at a high rate in the US. **** The decision about what happens with Adam and Trespassing are NOT based solely on the US which is only about 25% of the world market. And, only about 50% of Adam's sales from the FYE era. We have no idea what total sales of Trespassing are. **** On FYE, I know this is not a popular opinion among fans but there was no really good single to release as single #4 in the US. IF Sleepwalker had showed some strength in Canada, then they might have revisited it. Fever was not suitable for the US. Etc. One thing is certain, labels do not have a standard approach to promoting albums -- even for one artist. What they do know is that Adam had one Top 10 hit in the US and a second Top 40 hit, so he is capable of having a big hit. **** Adam doing a Queen Tour would not convert into massive sales of Trespassing. Different markets except for the Adam fans who already own the album. The band management says NO Queen tour in the works. I did not see a tweet saying no Adam but he needs to promote his own music. **** Adam as an Idol judge will make him famous, and could build awareness of Trespassing and its singles. Thus drive sales. BUT he could also promote the album in many other ways. **** Being in the US BB200 means nothing. Trespassing is stocked in all the big US retail chains. That is what matters. **** IMHO -- IF Adam is going to have a big hit from this album cycle, it will NOT be because radio gets behind a single. It could be because a song is used in a TV commercial or recurring in a TV show. And non-fans like the song and buy the track. **** Recorded music sales is LESS THAN 50% of RCA's net revenue and of Adam's income. Adam may have a hit single or he may not have any hit singles from the Trespassing era. The album may never be certified gold, or it could be. But it has already sold well enough to get Adam album #3 with RCA. The reviews were good. He has established himself as a singer-songwriter of merit. NOT JUST AN IDOL KARAOKE SINGER. With Trespassing, Adam has already done what he really needed to do -- build credibility. In the end, Adam almost certainly will make more money on Trespassing than he did on FYE -- for starters count the writing and production credits. **** Most importantly, Adam is happy and in Asia Pacific promoting his album. |

I think there might be some significance to adam's twitter party statements and sending out a "Pretty Little Liar" picture as if he's saying don't bellieve everything I'm saying right now. Maybe?
