Hmm, so they cut Ray Davies and Kate Bush? Unless I missed something. That stinks.

Brian is sounding awesome.
ETA: Just watched Jesse J again. Did they sweetened the sound? She sounded a little more on point on glory notes (I don't think she was that far off on live version--just a little flat to my untrained ears). They did add echo since live version. I'm not being critical. I still think she did a good job. But I'm curious from a technical aspect.

What do you think of the closing ceremony?
Before the show, I was looking forwards to it as I saw the line up and had high expectation. But after the show, though I found that everything went on smoothly and I didn't really complaint any performance; my overall feeling about the show was bland because it didn't leave me with any feeling or impression. There isn't anything that I feel like I need to watch again.
I remember when i was little i watched the Moscow Olympic closing ceremony and I cried when they had the Misha-goodbye scene. I really didn't want the Olympics to be over. There wasn't Youtube to re-watch at that time at all, but now, so many years later, I still cannot forget the feeling I had at that time.
The closing ceremony at the Sydney Olympics was like a huge party. It seemed like everybody in the stadium was enjoying the party, they sang, they danced, and laughed and had fun together. But I think I had stronger feeling with the Moscow one.
London Olympics closing ceremony? I had no feeling, and there wasn't any wow moment for me to remember. I was more impressed with the Opening ceremony though.

love, love love, Brian's awesome coat, and he played brilliantly. Jesse ? um, not so much. Good try, but not quite right with Queen. Thought she was great earlier. Annie Lennox was great !

I was more impressed with the Opening ceremony though. I kept waiting for something really big to happen musically. The opening ceremony represented the country gloriously. But isn't that often true of Olympic ceremonies? I'm not sure I remember closing ceremonies. And my Olympic memories go back further than yours to (gulp) the 1972 Olympics. It's more kind of a relief that everything went off well. But recapturing the spirit of the family gathered around the tv and experiencing it together was an exercise in futility in our household anyway. It's all so fragmented now. Wait! What??? No Who? Wtf!?

OIC. They aren't showing The Who portion for an hour, after they show some lame show. No thanks, NBC. You cut my beloved Russian gymnasts. Not to mention reducing an unbelievable men's high bar competition to 15 minutes at 10:40 pm central time. (I know; I could watch it online, but working and really wanted to try to recapture the above-mentioned family gathering experience I had over all those past Olympics.)

Popping to say I was happy that NBC gave us ALL of the Queen performance including the Freddie vid which got the biggest response of the night I think. Impressed that they gave Brian time to solo before WWRY as well. Jessie J? *Shrug* Tough act to follow when a video of Freddie just held the world in his hands But Brian and Rog nailed it as usual

I am so glad I watched the US live online feed (from NBC) instead of the broadcast. Some of the individual performance were great -- but the show was not really held together by anything.
JMHO but the two best performers were on video -- Freddie and John Lennon.
Biggest surprises to me were how good the Spice Girls were (not a fan, low expectations) and how good Take That were (not a fan, low expectations).
Best dressed performer - Brian May (I want that coat with the badger and fox/dog/wolf ? patches
Most entertaining moment - Eric Idle
Best live vocal performance - Annie Lennox
Most WFT moment - Fashion models? ? ? ? ?
Still can't figure it out - Batman and Robin, they aren't even British

Finally seeing The Who in NBC broadcast. Daltrey sounds excellent. He's singing Townshend's parts. So maybe Townsend's voice hasn't aged well.
