To be fair to AI.. there was losts of "oh the show is down without Simon"... "it going to crash and burn".. "How can it possibly go on without Simon"... "Simon is AI" and all that. They needed a leak, IMO, to stop some of the negative press.

Roger Taylor in Queen's video of "I Want to Break Free." And since it's such a slow day... The first time I saw that video, I am not proud to say that I saw Rog and thought..."Who is that babe?!?! Oh...wait a sec...D'oh!"

Mys*&@^#r and I had discussed this and we still think the most likely progression is to have the press release (i.e., the announcement) drop anytime (Monday or Tuesday of next week?) and then have the press conference after Labor Day. Like Q3 said, the press conferences are usually where all are assembled for first time at once and they do their official publicity shots. It makes sense to tease that out a bit and let the press prepare their questions, etc. Not to mention, it's difficult to prepare an event like that without giving backgrounders and they get two press cycles out of it. Media is very overworked and likely have pitches for fall season events almost every day since all the shows are ramping up their fall PR right after Labor Day. Being AI's 12th season, they are going to need to entice media to show up, which means telling them who is going to be there and give them the opportunity to prepare and get excited about the event. TBH, if I covered entertainment, I couldn't be bothered to drag my ass across the street to ask Randy or Nick J. any questions, but hell, I'd sure clear my schedule for Adam and Pharrell. The risk they take by pushing too far back is competing with "X Factor" press, which will be where Fox's focus would and should be since it debuts on Sept. 12.

As I posted when this question was asked previously, Sony NZ has confirmed that they tried to get Adam to come to NZ and the schedule did not work. No disrespect to NZ, but it is a small market and remote. Japan is a big market. They have to manage where Adam invests his time.-- NZ has enough sales. Trespassing debuted at #4 in New Zealand charts.org.nz/weekchart.asp?cat=a&year=2012&date=20120528(For reference: FYE peaked at #5.) Both singles made the NZ Top 40. (NCOE #24, BTIKM #40) All with almost no promotional support from Adam.
I also like to add that New Zealand is the only country, out of the limited few which we can monitor/track sales and chart positions, where both the album and current single have stayed on the official charts consecutively and longest since release (album for 11 weeks and NCOE 8 weeks)!
Like mys*&@^#r said New Zealand had been one of the strongest and most enthusiastic supporter of Adam's music, and it would be so rewarding for our kiwi stans to experience Adam in person but as Q3 pointed out above: priority! Actually, if memory serves me right he didn't go to New Zealand during FYE promo rounds either; he did a few TV/radio interviews for New Zealand while he was in Oz. I'm guessing he'd do something like that this time around as well.
