Not really adding much to the discussion, but I had a thought regarding lies/fibs/evasions. You guys have a great memory so correct me if I am wrong. According to the "evidence" lifetraveler has nicely compiled for us  , Adam really only flat out says "no" (a lie) to a rumor when he is asked about Sonisphere in this vid ( t.co/aYlml0TF). My thought was that he wasn't lying, but actually didn't know/remember that the festival that he was doing is called Sonisphere! I recall many had at that time referred to it as "Knebworth". If so, Adam has indeed said "no, not true" when it is not true, and when he "can't" say anything, he just fudges or is evasive about things. |

Thank you for addressing that topic of lying vs fibbing vs keeping secrets and taking that topic of lying off the table for the situation at hand.
If Adam has contractual obligations to be quiet about something and then tries to wiggle himself out of the situation, he is keeping secrets. He is in a business where he sometimes cannot even say: It's a secret I cannot talk about it, because that already indicates that some talks or negotiations are happening.
Adam is not avoiding a truth he does not like to face (real lying), he is bursting at the seams and would love to tell, he just is obliged not to do so.
Adam's leading us around as he must, is no different than you telling your 5 year old that Santa brought the presents or telling your colleague that everyone forgot about the birthday when you know that in reality a surprise party is waiting for her at the next coffee break.
White lies is often used as term, even though that usually refers to little lies like 'your dress looks wonderful', etc., but it could possibly be applied here too.
There are many different forms of not telling the truth or lying.
The Qua'ran says about this that God knows the secrets of all people's hearts when a lie is said.
Obviously, there is no mal-intent when you are keeping a contract, so throwing that in with 'general lying' and starting ethics debates just makes no sense.
Alright, here is the Bible for good measure:
"Righteous lips are the delight of kings; and they love him that speaketh right." Proverbs 16:13 (KJV)
The person who speaks right, can be trusted.
As far as I can tell, the trust in Adam is endless. And for good reason.
This kind of proves the point, that lying is not what is going on here, rather a game of cat and mouse, where the opponent is sent into the wrong direction.
It's all good.
Finally, I think that the earlier posted Sonisphere example actually was not even 'a game face lie' on Adam's part, because his body language indicated a different scenario. He probably knew the concert as Knebworth and did not recognize Sonisphere as a word. He thought he had dodged a bullet, because the interviewer had the wrong information. It was a miscue, rather than anything else.

Mys*&@^#r and I had discussed this and we still think the most likely progression is to have the press release (i.e., the announcement) drop anytime (Monday or Tuesday of next week?) and then have the press conference after Labor Day. Like Q3 said, the press conferences are usually where all are assembled for first time at once and they do their official publicity shots. It makes sense to tease that out a bit and let the press prepare their questions, etc. Not to mention, it's difficult to prepare an event like that without giving backgrounders and they get two press cycles out of it. Media is very overworked and likely have pitches for fall season events almost every day since all the shows are ramping up their fall PR right after Labor Day. Being AI's 12th season, they are going to need to entice media to show up, which means telling them who is going to be there and give them the opportunity to prepare and get excited about the event. TBH, if I covered entertainment, I couldn't be bothered to drag my ass across the street to ask Randy or Nick J. any questions, but hell, I'd sure clear my schedule for Adam and Pharrell. The risk they take by pushing too far back is competing with "X Factor" press, which will be where Fox's focus would and should be since it debuts on Sept. 12. Good point. I am sure that FOX really does not want to undermine X-Factor's debut of the new judging panel. Britney and Demi did not come cheap and they have more competition this year with The Voice moving to September. There are lots of ways to do the timing but I think they have to announce the Idol judges before Labor Day. After that, the news will confront this...
