Nicki Minaj said on her twitter her fans will spaz when they see why she's canceling the tour. I just find it incredibly hard to believe she means American Idol a dying show that attracts an audience of 50+ year old women. I can't see her fans being excited about it and I can't see why she would want to do it. Katy Perry turned it down. American Idol outside the American Idol hard core fan bubble is considered way uncool. I can see Mariah a fading past star doing it and the same with Jonas a yesterday's news. I can see someone from the show like Kelly or Adam doing it because that is their roots but to a current rap artist I can't thinking of anything more uncool than American Idol.

Trying to move along to get to all the Summer Sonic goodies..but even tho nobody knows anything yet, the thought of NM and Mariah Carey on the same Idol panel is just.. I'd almost watch the show just for that.. :4OMG: :4OMG: Seriously, just add a Country dude and Nick Jonas to the mix and you have the most hilariously dysfunctional potential train wreck ever. Good luck to any contestant who can manage to get noticed with all of this going on.

I do not want to get my AI hopes up even a little bit because coming down is too hard, but this panel looks to be adding up to be very pricey, and a well know country singer can't be cheap either. They might be very open to a cheaper alternative. Oh dear, I feel a glimmer of hope working its way back into my system. Riley (I think that's what his name), the Fox executive said that they're not cutting down budget as reported in July. I think on papers this move to get a fresh look of Idol is good, but let's see after a few weeks of audition or live show if they just another "you sound great and the best thing I've ever heard" boring comments from the judges and the bloggers begin to complain about them ;D

Too bad Idol is following the same path as The Voice, all about the judges instead of the contestants. I watched the first 2 seasons of The Voice but got tired of the drama between Christina and Adam Levine, not to mention, they haven't produced anyone successful. Adam Levine recently said "It's not all about finding a star." That statement said it all and why I have no intention of watching The Voice again. Too bad. I've always been a fan of Idol and going down the path of The Voice is what's going to kill all of these shows off in the next few years. Shirley Halperin's article is probably accurate in that there has probably been a lot of disagreement behind the scenes on who the judges should be. Most likely the reason for the delay in announcement. Adam may have very well had a good shot at the job a month ago but the Fox execs may have wanted to go with bigger names. I don't know that Nick Jonas ever really had a chance at this job. I always got the feeling that he and his management were just really aggressive in going after the job. He probably just has really aggressive management who secured an interview for him.
This is just very frustrating cause it just appears that Adam's management has, at various times, put all their eggs in one basket hoping it would have a huge pay-off. Delaying the album to get the #1, which hasn't helped sales in the long run. The Bruno connection with NCOE, which didn't convince radio to play it. From the Billboard article the RCA bigwig put a lot of emphasis on the Idol performance of NCOE, which really didn't do much. The Queen shows, which although great, I'm hoping the timing didn't torpedo Trespassing as well by taking his focus off of it. Those shows certainly didn't help with sales in the UK or convince UK radio (namely BBC) to support Adam. And now if they had put their hopes into the Idol gig, only for Fox to step in deciding they needed bigger stars on the panel. I always had the feeling the lack of success with Trespassing so far would be one of the big reasons why he wouldn't end up with the job. The FOX execs look at that and think he won't bring ratings if he's not selling. Same thing could be happening with Mariah, but she's already signed. But the fact her new single is tanking, even after the Idol announcement, they may be scared they made a mistake by investing so much in her so they're going after the big guns (Nicki Minaj.)

I have to say I disagree with you on every point. It seems like a lot assumptions. All of which I disagree. I highly doubt Adam's mgmt team "puts all their eggs in one basket" or is waiting with baited breath for an Idol gig that Adam himself said no one from AI approached them on. I think too many people are so caught up in the show maybe they don't realize the rest of the world is not.
