I've only watched AI sporadically since season 8 but I might have to watch if they stick little Jonas between the big boobed, bombastic duo of Mariah and Nicki. It'd be like Sponge Bob (or Justin Bieber) guest starring on True Blood. Just like NASCAR, most people would watch it for the potential for disaster.

Nicki Minaj said on her twitter her fans will spaz when they see why she's canceling the tour. I just find it incredibly hard to believe she means American Idol a dying show that attracts an audience of 50+ year old women. I can't see her fans being excited about it and I can't see why she would want to do it. Katy Perry turned it down. American Idol outside the American Idol hard core fan bubble is considered way uncool. I can see Mariah a fading past star doing it and the same with Jonas a yesterday's news. I can see someone from the show like Kelly or Adam doing it because that is their roots but to a current rap artist I can't thinking of anything more uncool than American Idol. Hardcore fans (the ones that would "spazz") are always going to want to see their fav on TV all the time. Idol is basically a showcase for the judges these days. Of course Nicki's fans would love it. Being a judge on these reality shows has become cool and accepted; being a lowly contestant, not so much. |
