A provocative song and video is fine for a straight girl to break through, not for a gay guy, unfortunately, IMO. Yea, Shady is my favorite song from TP - it just makes me want to dance! But I think mainstream America would have problems accepting that the opening lines because if you listen to the words it is so male on male. But I also think that people ignore alot of the words if a song has a good vibe which I think Shady has. So maybe it could work as a single, but more likely after another song was very successful. I don't get the vibe of male on male. I just get, he needs a fix. It could relate well to hetero couples. Now if Usher can sing scream, about having orgasms, why can't Adam talk about looking for a fix. That's what guys do, they are always on the hunt looking for sex.

OT.. I'm watching Graham Norton show re-run with KD Lang and JHud in it and KD said that she never believe in AI... but then she said that JHud's one of the finest singer.. LOL. And I think KD gave credit too much to Simon Cowell, she thinks the AI system's based on Simon's Cowell's mind.. LOL.. First of all it's the wrong Simon and second she doesn't really understand that middle America votes the singers who stays and who's not. .. oh well. eta: JHud's very articulate

Between new single, Idol rumors, blond/grey hair, mini-tours, more Queen speculation and everything else, I am just going crazy - I feel like this I even posted the photo upside down :-/

Add me to Team Shady. I personally think that people would expect an edgy song from Adam...and that maybe the reason that BTIKM and NCOE haven't caught on is that they are too "safe"... JMO

The people that won't listen or buy an Adam song because he is gay, won't buy or listen regardless of the song....so being cautious in case you can 'surprise' the casual listener won't...and is not...working. The 'safe' options are not working...and going for another 'safer' option won't work again. You don't break out and make it big being safe, imho. I like Trespassing and Cuckoo and believe they have great chances of being hits...but I don't personally see then as having the power to BREAK down those initial barriers. Music seems to be like water making a path...surface tension makes it much harder for the first drop to break down but after that it is easier...Shady has the strength to break through, I believe. Certainly it is a good enough song, on every level, to make it clear that if it does not break through, then there really is some major prejudice at work. No other song is as hooky and as powerful as it, I think...and it seems to be on everyone's top 3 regardless of the other choices.... I guess, for me, I just can't imagine the public not loving this song once they heard it.....most people take far less notice of the words and their possible subversive alternative meanings than we stans do...really...we are letting that nasty vocal minority shade our respect for the majority... eta...mods...if we are not to talk numbers, not to talk of AI, not to go too far to the deep end, not to talk of preferred singles...and these are the things in the news or there is a dearth of new news, what are we supposed to talk of? Is it preferable that we not talk at all.... :-[ sorry if I contravened the rules...it was unintentional...

It's the combination of "get your ass down to the front" and "go on an roll it out" both spoken to another party that makes it sound male on male. But if you don't listen to this line very closely then the rest of it is more generic.
