I am sorry, but some facts do not agree with what you "feel": 'American Idol' Boosts Aerosmith Sales Sales up more than 250 percent since Steven Tyler joined judges' panel.
In fact, according to Nielsen SoundScan, since the launch of the new season of "Idol" on January 19, the sales of Aerosmith's greatest-hits collections have gone up by more than 250 percent. Among the biggest gainers: 1994's Big Ones (up 260 percent after the debut week) and 2006's Devil's Got a New Disguise: The Very Best of Aerosmith (up 146 percent after week two). According to The Hollywood Reporter, two other greatest-hits compilations have spiked by 137 percent and 147 percent.
Before the show premiered with Tyler taking his seat alongside fellow new judge Jennifer Lopez and returning veteran Randy Jackson, sales of the Aerosmith catalog were waning, moving less than 1,000 copies a week. So while the bump up to sales of more than 2,000 copies per album is impressive, it's still modest compared to such perennial catalog giants as Bob Marley & the Wailers' Legend, which was also up nearly 100 percent last week on sales of more than 7,000.
Read more: www.mtv.com/news/articles/1657551/american-idol-boosts-aerosmith-sales.jhtml You're response came off a bit rude. But those "facts" don't support your argument. Going from 1,000 units to 2,000 units does not make for super sales and it hurt his "legend" status (which is priceless). But I guess that's just how I "feel" and my "opinion" Idol did not ruin Tyler's "legend" status. He has ruined it himself - being IMHO lame and boring judge, totally without opinion or advice for the contestants.

Just the opposite- being a judge on Idol would HELP and in no way HURT! How could exposure on TV two times a week to 15-20 million viewers "hurt" Adam? It certainly didn't hurt Jlo or Steven, or the judges on The Voice, for that matter. What it did was make some of them household names or put some of them back in the spotlight. IF Adam gets the job, it will not be a GUARANTEE of anything! However, it will get Adam's face and his articulate, charismatic self back into the public eye in a way that no other option available to him could do at this point. It will then be up to him to make the best of this golden opportunity, and I am 100% confident in Adam's ability to spin gold from it! I think it hurt Xtina & Tyler. Not so much JLo because she was never taken seriously as a singer anyway.. Tyler lost a lot of cred amongst his fan base. He lost some in my eyes too. They start to lose credibility as singers and become TV personalities. I don't think Xtina will ever recover her singing career fully. Levine saves himself because he is part of a band. Really?? From wiki: American recording artist Jennifer Lopez has released seven studio albums, three compilation album, two extended plays, thirty-four official singles and eight promotional singles. Following a ten-year career in dance and acting, Lopez signed a record deal with Work Records to launch her music career. She made her chart debut in May 1999 with "If You Had My Love", which reached number one in six countries including topping the Billboard Hot 100. It was followed by the release of her debut studio album, On the 6, which peaked within the top five in several countries including Germany, Canada and Switzerland. Apart from her debut single, four more songs were released from On the 6: "Waiting for Tonight", "Feelin' So Good" and "Let's Get Loud". "Waiting for Tonight" was a worldwide hit, and her second top ten hit on the Billboard Hot 100. Lopez's second studio album J.Lo was released on January 23, 2001, through Epic Records. The album peaked at number one on the US Billboard 200, eventually being certified four-times platinum in the United States. The album's lead single "Love Don't Cost a Thing" peaked at three on the Billboard Hot 100, while its second and third singles "Play", "Ain't It Funny" each attained moderate chart success. The album's fourth and final single, "I'm Real" topped the Billboard Hot 100. J.Lo remains her most commercially successful album, having sold nearly four million copies in the United States and eight million copies worldwide.[1] The following year saw the release of Lopez's first remix album, J to tha L–O! The Remixes. It became the first remix album in history to debut at number one on the Billboard 200, and went on to become one of the best selling remix albums of all time.[2] Lopez's third studio album This Is Me... Then peaked at number two on the Billboard 200 albums chart, and earned double-platinum status in the United States. Four singles were released from the album, with "Jenny from the Block" being the lead single. Lopez's fourth studio album Rebirth charted moderately in the United States, eventually earning a platinum certification for shipments of over one million units. Two singles were released from the album: "Get Right" and "Hold You Down". In early 2007, Lopez released her debut Spanish single "Qué Hiciste". The song was the lead single from her first Spanish album, Como Ama una Mujer, which peaked at number ten on the US Billboard 200 and number one on the US Top Latin Albums chart. Como Ama una Mujer was also commercially successful in other territories, including in Germany and Switzerland, where it entered the top five on the album charts. Just over six months later, Lopez released her sixth studio album Brave. Two singles were released from Brave: "Do It Well" and "Hold It Don't Drop It", both of which, like the album, were moderately successful. Lopez was expected to release her seventh studio album, Love?, in April 2010.[3] However after separating from Epic Records, the fate of the album was unknown.[4] Lopez later signed a new record deal with Island Records, and through the label, released Love? on April 28, 2011, a year after its first scheduled release. Three singles have been released from the album to date: the worldwide chart-topper "On the Floor", "I'm Into You" and "Papi". "On the Floor" became Lopez's most successful single in her career, topping more than eighteen national single charts and selling more than 1.4 million copies in Europe to become the biggest selling single of 2011.[5] Lopez has sold over 11.8 million albums in the United States and over 70 million records worldwideXtina's career was already on the skids. Now, at least she has a cameo on a #1 song and has become a household name again. Aerosmith's CD sales went through the roof after Steven Tyler started on Idol. Plus, he put out a best selling book and gained several commercial endorsements. He started performing at award's shows again. Now Aerosmith is going on another world tour together. Steven Tyler introduced a whole new generation to the music from Aerosmith. How is that "losing cred"? Levine is now a household name, which he wasn't before The Voice, and everything he puts out becomes a number one hit. He now has TWO songs in the top 20 on CHR and at the top of the iTunes charts. The song he performed on The Voice with Xtina became a massive hit and brought his current album at the time back from the dead.

#itsgreatnews ;D 3 years after season 8, Adam is still being introduced as "the finalist of American Idol". If he cannot get rid of the connection, why not use it? To quote some ancient wisdom also found in a Queen song, "If you can't beat them, join them!" " Werk, bitch!&[/b] First time we saw that live!!!! At 1:20 ... i fell in lust all over again!!! HBIC gets me everytime!!!

I don't think he'll get it and if by some chance he does I think it will hurt in the long run. But to quote Adam "IF" he get's it "and that's a big IF" and it has positive results I'll buy you all a drink and humbly say I was wrong.

Firstly, I must say that I hate reality TV in general and Idol type things in particular. So I won't watch AI even if Adam is on but I don't mind him getting the gig at all. I am OK with any possible scenario. Why? Well, there is something that is not being disscused and is prosaic buy very important: is a job and that means money. We all work for money, even if we like our jobs. More money means less pressure: you can spend time working on projects without worring about paying the rent. This is applicable to me, to Adam and to most of us.

Lol! I know I'm in the minority and probably the only one in this forum who thinks American Idol is a lame gig. I know this forum is filled with American Idol die hards and TV watchers. I never got into the show (can you tell ) But it's all good. But excuse the grin when Adam doesn't get it We each have our view points. I don't care about AI. I've never watched it (only Adam's performances). For me it's all about Adam - he wants it then I want it for him.
