I love "Bridge Over Troubled Water" and I still equate it with Simon and Garfunkle, not Clay, so he hasn't ruined it for me. OMG!! Would LOVE to hear Adam do "Stairway to Heaven."
I still contend that we might hear something this coming week so Fox can get things rolling - like a press conference that won't compete with XF and fall season launch, official photos and other aspects that don't demand secrecy. Producers' callbacks can proceed without all that BS too. The sooner they can start promoting the new brand and faces of the show the better.
When XF announced Nick J. as a mentors' helper or whatever they're called, it generated an article from Shirley and litttle else that I saw. Not like that is a big news cycle waiting to happen. I am surprised that they haven't announced the host - I would have thought they would have been circulating rumors around that a lot more than they have been. Seemed they started to at the beginning of the summer, then they kind of dropped it.

Interesting to play the two versions back to back. Boe has a brighter, lighter tone more focused in his mask, or the front of his face. In that way, he is like Adam. Wilkinson has a darker, more "classically" big tenor tone, with more chest sound and focused further back in his mouth. But, for this song, he delivers much of it in a very, very delicate head voice without any chest resonance. You can hear a big difference between that sound and when he powers it up at the climax with a full voice. Can't tell you why you prefer one over the other, but, I like Wilkinson's better because: 1. The greater "heft" in his voice fits better for an old man --- which is who is singing the song in the play. 2. Abandoning that heft and singing much of the song in that delicate, almost not there head voice brings a poignant intimacy and vulnerability to the song. Here is this strong, tough old man in quiet, solitary prayer to God in the middle of the night. We feel we are eavesdropping on a most private and tender moment. Would be very interesting to hear what Adam would do with it. I would love to hear Adam sing this, too. Although I think he is a bit young for it, I think he would sound heavenly. I had the good fortune to see Colm Wilkinson perform this in Les Mis on Broadway. I'd never heard the song before that day. I literally sat there and sobbed when he was finished. I'd never heard anyone sing so beautifully and with such emotion, ever. I still cry when I hear him sing it. I think my heart would burst if I ever heard Adam sing it. Okay, so this dicussion sent me off into weird rememberances and reflections where I eventually found a very old favorite of mine: www.youtube/watch?v=H2Drw2_HmK0Adam doing any type of pop rendition of an operatic classic would be just fine with me.

Re: Keith Urban...this is a clip from The Voice AU (with my fave Karise which I've listened to a million times) and KU was a great judge. Warm and encouraging...actually they all were. I would watch TV AU again because of Urban, so I think he'll be a good addition to AI And Karise' Back to Black with Paula is fantastic. (Sorry I don't know how to bring the youtube in) What I liked about The Voice AU (did not enjoy the US version...too much about the judges) was both judging, choice of coach by the contestant, and the mentoring. I would imagine how Adam would approach the singers...that's really what I'd love to see him do. Both judge and mentor. I should add she chose Seal but Keith's reactions were great. Thanks for bringing over the YTs. I fix the YT links so peeps can watch it. I think Keith's not as laid back as he potrays himself to be. I think I'm going to enjoy watching the work dynamic between Adam and Keith on AI judging table.

I would love him to sing my favorite Michael Jackson song, "One Day in Your Life". It's not very well known.
