Am I misremenbering -- but didn't Adam tweet that Map was not about Sauli? (Really possible that I am just imagining it!) It was a question from a fan.
ETA: In the Twitter party he said that Map was not about a lover. That would eliminate Sauli, I think.

I am a pretty literal person, but Map seems very clearly to be about a lover to me. I mean one does not lay down with your fans or your music collaborators. I think one of the most obvious love songs he has written. I think he likes to look for alternative meaning in lyrics as we have seen from the IHY, BTIKM and NCOE music videos.

Wow so many hot pictures of Adam I havn't seen before  He looks fabulous on every picture so I can't really decide on a favorite  If I had to decide these come to my mind first ( I hope I did it right )     I loooove the picture thread here I think I saved about 400 pictures on my ipod so I can apply a new screensaver any day :wub: |

I believe Map is definitely about a lover. I never thought even when he answered this question, that it was anything but a song for his lover. Adam was being snarky with his answer. Like "you are always trying to dissect everything. It's so obvious and clear and simple that it's about a lover, but you like to overanalyze everything. So try and imagine the lyrics about something other than a lover. Start anylizing" That's my take anyway! OK, I'll play. Since Adam said he's 'laying' beside you ... the English lover in me wonders what it is he is 'laying.' If it was himself that he was 'laying' down ... wouldn't it be 'I'm lying beside you.'  (This was said with a smile ... I'm really not trying to start an English discussion!!) And, Gelly ... I think you are right. Knowing how we are, I think he was just trying to give us something to analyze. ... re English: may be he meant what he said there...i.e. LAYING HIMSELF DOWN.... like in offering himself...and not lying down ... I find it hard to believe he wouldn't know the difference...his overall mastery of the language is pretty good ... |

That's what I thought, too, that Adam was being snarky and also kind of referencing how so many of his love songs are not about lovers when it comes to making the videos. |

You gotta give the man and the directors props for being able to "turn around"| the song and give it another meaning , aside from the "obvious" .And btw , Adam said in the chelsea lately show that he *would* do a vid with a male lover in it , he *would* cross that bridge , but I remember he said in another interview , that the world (and america) is not ready for a vid like that yet . so , you know ....... |
