Not really ... he's a Kris fan. (And a Haley fan.) But is his info reliable? Can we trust that Randy's returning after all or could he be mistaken? 3 sourcess say the same thing. I have no reason to doubt now. |

No, no! It has nothing to do with their relationship! It has to do with fair judging of the contestants. I don't give a fuck about their relationship. It would affect their judging. It will be like having 3 judges instead of 4. This is a silly TV singing contest. j/s  They don't need four judges anyhow. The AI judges been reading producer's notes and going with what the producers want for years. Remember, it's about the advertising dollar and nothing more. I haven't seen consistently "fair judges" on any of the three singing/reality shows, so Randy and Mariah being in a business relationship isn't going to matter. This "silly singing contest" is a hundred million dollar business that could support entire economies if it wanted to. Businesses with that kind of growth and profitability do NOT happen by accident and when they fall apart a lot of people lose their livelihoods and the economy loses a huge source of revenue. It's probably more successful than 99% of businesses that keep our economy afloat and have tremendous influence over consumers, pop culture and the general public. I don't ask them to behave anymore responsibly than I expect any company I do business with to behave. Basic ethics are a part of doing business and yes, there are unscrupulous sharks who will take advantage of their customers for sleazy capital gain, but we have a right to call those companies out and their public image SHOULD suffer on account of it. It happens every day and trust is a HUGE component of brand identity and when they lose it, it's often disastrous for the company. (Check into crisis PR to find out how much companies are willing to spend to repair a damaged reputation.) Slezak doesn't say anything more than anyone else. No comment from Fox; "sources close to show..." |

So the surest thing is that Adam is out.

TV Line is a reliable source (they report accurate spoilers about TV shows -- they have an inside track with a lot of producers). Michael Slezak, the writer of the article, has never been a fan of Randy Jackson. And he also praised Adam when he appeared as a mentor on Idol back in Season 9, and wrote an article earlier this year saying that Adam would be a good choice as a judge. I'd say the decision has been made. We'll probably never know why Adam didn't get the job. It's possible that FOX wanted a bigger star than Adam and when Enrique fell through at the last minute, they decided to stick with Randy. Or maybe Adam and Idol/FOX couldn't agree on financial terms. In any event, Adam will fine. Lots of other options for him. And maybe if one of the judges don't work out, we'll see him on Idol in Season 13. ETA: Silver lining: No Idol = more time for a Trespassing tour + more performances with Queen! |
