Adam does "play" an instrument -- his voice. He's mentioned that in interviews. And you don't need to read music to write a melody -- you can simply play it (or, in Adam's case, sing it) into a recording device. I don't remember Adam saying that the melodies were all written before he got to the studio. What he said was that they would start with a beat or someone would sit down at a keyboard and start playing chords, and then when something sounded good, they (Adam and the other co-writers) would build on it. Finally, Adam does have composer credit (not just lyricist credit) on many of the songs on Trespassing, including the title song (page down for detailed list of credits): adamtopia.com/index.cgi?board=adam2&action=display&thread=855Good Grief, haven't we had the instrument discussion enough over the past three years? NO ONE is discounting Adam's voice or saying that the voice is not an instrument. I almost typed "other than his voice" in my original post, but thought we were past that on an Adam fanboard. This isn't MJs and I'm not some butthurt hater of Adam. I could care less if Adam plays a physical instrument outside of his voice. I know that a voice is an instrument, why state the obvious? Let's try again: Adam does not play a musical instrument outside of his voice, vocal chords, vocal box, etc., etc. He may, however, have a great deal of talent in contributing to a musical composition in other ways. How much Adam contributed to TSP, composition wise, is unknown but even if it was quite a bit, someone else had to do quite a bit of composing (for the studio musicians) and producing to get it to the finished product. Adam may or may not have contributed to the majority of the lyrics, but they certainly sound like his words and it is his story. Therefore, even with a radio edit of TSP(and a few bells and whistles thrown in) the fact that they didn't mess with the lyrics or basic melody of the song means that Adam's vision and his mission statement is still being communicated. They have kept the parts that most likely Adam contributed to the most, therefore, it still has Adam's fingerprints all over the song! In other words, they changed the composition A LITTLE and added a few things to the music, but the song is still Adam's mission statement. I (as well as others after me) was responding to this bolded part of your post, which is incorrect: " Adam isn't a composer. He doesn't play musical instruments, read music or write music. That doesn't mean Adam doesn't have basic knowledge and can sightread for vocal parts or that he doesn't contribute to the creative process. Adam explained the song writing process for TSP on several occasions and explained that the music was already there (the melody and general song was there) and the group of writers would listen to the music and start throwing out ideas for themes depending on how the music made them feel". The rest of your post, that regardless of how Trespassing was edited it still expresses Adam's POV and mission, I perfectly understood and did not take issue with it.

Saturday Night Live @nbcsnl (45 min ago) Think you have a great idea for SNL host or musical guest? Read this: tinyurl.com/brtsm3y #SNLHost #SNLMusic #FollowTheRulesSNL Hosts and Musical Guests Posted September 11, 2012 10:56 AM Saturday Night LiveHey everybody! We've been noticing a lot of our followers on Facebook and Twitter have been suggesting performers they think would make great hosts and musical guests for our show. And some of the suggestions have been so amazing that we here in the web world want to keep better track of what you're saying so that we can pass it along to our producers. So once a month we'll chose a day and open the floor to your suggestions on Facebook and Twitter. If you're on Facebook, you can simply leave a comment on our "Suggestion" post and if you're on Twitter, tweet us your suggestion on the designated day with the hash tag #SNLHost or #SNLMusic. And please, stick to the designated days. It will make your suggestions so much easier to track and keep our feeds open on "non-suggestion" days to other interactions with all you wonderful people. Thanks! Can't wait to hear from you all!

Adam wanted this job. The main reason I wanted it for him was as a means to get him back into the public awareness. Now how in the hell is that gonna happen? Little one-offs here and there ain't gonna do it. Likely no Grammy nom this year either. And radio play is iffy. Anyone - feel free to pull me back off this cliff. Or push me over. :-/ ETA- really appreciating Michael Slezak's tweet right now. Yes Adam wanted this job.. but did /does he really.. really.. really want this job??? IMO Adam wanted this job coz he love the show and think it would be fun... and off course money. IMO if he doesn't get it he has a lot of stuff to do and moves on does his promo.
