That is the Voice of China Macau concert. I believe Adam is booked for the final of The Voice of China in Shanghai. Two different things. Both with huge reach. But the final will be bigger. The numbers in that tweet are not viewers who watch the show but viewers who can get the show. The American Idol US equivalent is 320 million TV viewers but on 16-20 million watch Idol. ETA: Just this is a big appearance and important in China and also to a lesser extent in SE Asia.

OT. But, I could get tangential and say it is related to the discussion of Glee, Adam's marriage equality gig, and Cheek's series, Husbands. Have y'all seen the new comedy series on NBC, "The New Normal"? Don't know if I love it or hate it. It is about a gay couple who decides to hire a surrogate to have a baby. Somewhat like Husbands, one is very "straight" acting, and one is flamboyantly gay. The woman/girl they choose to carry their baby is a sorta ditsy, naive, but totally kind hearted girl from the Midwest who has decided to break free of her cheating husband and her ultra-bigoted Grandmother and move to LA with her precocious and geeky 8 year old daughter. The show is the brainchild of Ryan Murphy, creator of Glee, and he says it is "largely based on my life." At times it is funny, at times embarrassingly stereotyping, at times poignant and touching, and at points blatantly and offensively depicting bigotry (makes Archie Bunker sound warm and cuddly). I don't know what to think, but I am amazed that it is on NBC prime time television. Interesting video in this article. Don't know how to bring it over directly. www.usmagazine.com/entertainment/news/nene-leakes-fan-reaction-to-my-new-normal-character-has-been-great-2012119#ooid=x3bXF0NTrMY-i86jBmcnC7moqagv_rHJ Episodes can be viewed here: www.nbc.com/the-new-normal/I was just talking about this show with my daughter who lives in Park City, Utah. She says the show is banned there. She grew up in CA, worked after graduation in NYC and has ended up in UT, for now, because of her husband's work at some hospitals there. She actually loves Park City, but she doesn't love this banning business, that's for sure. I DVRd the show but haven't had time to watch it yet.

Reading these posts about The Voice China appearance are making me grin evilly. AI in U.S. gets a viewing audience of 10 million these days, right? 10,000-seat is considered a big concert; 20,000-seat venue is considered huge. Eh. Small potatoes.

Okay, I'm caught up!
In the upthread, someone said something about traveling half way around the globe to perform one song, those above bolded numbers are the reason why --- the exposure to the world's most populous country!
China is not a huge market for music sales despite its population, due to its rabid piracy practice, but Chinese people would not hesitate to shell out big money for concerts which is how their national entertainers make millions and millions.
Oh, there's also curiosity about @alidol's credibility and gender. I'm not on twitter but I do have a weibo account, although I don't post at all (I can't hardly keep up with Atop at times, let alone another forum. I lurk on weibo whenever I can). Anyway, @alidol is a man, per his weibo profile, and a very devoted glambert, super active on twitter and on weibo. Still, he's just a fan not an industry insider or anything, nonetheless, he's a good source for what's happening in China or what could be happening (aka, "beautiful rumors").

The Voice of Shanghai will be at Shanghai Stadium, which is an outdoor venue. Hosts 43,000 people for a large event (assume a concert type event) Sporting events seat 56,000.
I finally think I figured out Adam will be at the Finale ...with 2 preshows being sold out. At least that is my best guess.
Sands China Ltd announced yesterday that the September 21 Venetian Macao concert of the hit show “The Voice of China” sold out in just two hours.
The gaming operator said it is putting on an additional show to cope with demand.
The 28 contestants from the mainland TV show will perform an extra show on September 22.
Tickets went on sale this morning.
The September 21 event will be broadcast to over 500 million Asian viewers on Zhejiang Television, Star TV and major Internet portals on September 28 – two days before the show’s finale on September 30, according to a press release from Sands China.

So maddie do you think he is going to be in ShangHai or Macau? If I remember correctly @alidol said it's going to be in Macau? I could be wrong ;D ETA: Looks like he is going to be in Macau, because that's where things going on right now. @alidol said the taping is on September 21 and it will be aired on September 30.
